  • I like to fancy myself the stir-fry Queen...okay so, no one actually calls me that, well except me 😂 BUT after this random creation of a GREEN VEGGIE & BEEF STIR-FRY, I think at least one other person might call me this one day 🤷🏼‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best thing about this meal, other than the insane flavor: you can legit do this with any protein & veggie combo, making it a meal you can make weekly & just change it up using what you have or desire! It would also be delish w/ some whole grain rice or cauliflower rice!! check it 👇🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•gather & prep your veggies: I had broccoli, kale, snap peas, bok choy & onion • lay your meat out, season with salt & let rest before cutting (about 10 minutes): I used our grass fed beef steaks from @butcher_box about a lb & a half • evenly coat meat w/ 1tbsp of arrowroot starch • heat 2tbsp. @chosenfoods avocado oil in a large cast iron skillet & once hot, begin cooking beef in batches not to overcrowd the skillet • place browned beef on separate plate & add chopped veggies into the still hot skillet • season with a little salt (helps soften) & add in about 1-2 tbsp @bonafideprovisions beef bone broth to deglaze the pan & blend together all the crispy goodness from the previously cooked beef • sauté veggies about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently • add 3 cloves of minced garlic & fresh grated ginger, stir • add cooked beef back in, stir • now to season: 2 tbsp. @bigtreefarmsbali coconut aminos, 1 tsp @redboatfishsauce , 1 tsp toasted sesame oil + 1 tsp red pepper flake • mix well and let cook & thicken for about 2-3 minutes on medium/low heat • serve & garnish with fresh chopped green onion & cilantro ✌🏼&🖤, Stir-fry Queen (did it stick?) #cleanmodernmayhem

Two stats showing both sides of how conventional agriculture is failing us! It’s failing us in the sense of our health & microbiome as well as the health of our environment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is something I have become passionate about the more I have learned & knowing what’s best for our health is also what’s best for our environment. Holistic health is full circle. It includes all facets of life & I would be failing y’all if I didn’t talk about it!

I have been working to find more sustainable sources of food & I am f’ing proud to say that every single thing on my plate pictured above is either something I harvested or I got from a local organic farm via my CSA (community shared agriculture). 1 farm fresh egg + arugula & beets from @risenshineorganicfarm + @hamama_greens home grown microgreens 🖤

Certainly not perfect over here & remember, this didn’t happen over night. Small changes & efforts make a HUGE difference. I realize not everyone has the ability to have their own chickens or have a large garden BUT everyone can make small changes to incorporate more locally grown foods. Participate in a CSA, grow some of your own food even if it’s a small herb garden, shop your local farmers market, look for the local labels at your grocery store. We as the consumers have the power. We want better quality foods? then we have to buy better quality foods & stop buying the processed shit that is making us sick! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For my  local people, I have put a #linkinbio for the farm that I get my CSA from. They have drop offs all over metro Atlanta & further out. If you use that link, you get $25 credit towards local, organic produce! Did I mention they have eggs, too? #eatrealfood #eatlocal #cleanmodernmayhem

  • I’m on the struggle bus staying creative w/ lunches but still pulling a few good ones out of my ass every now and again! Amelia loves these homemade “lunchables” and they have been my go-to on mornings I’m about to say f-it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Side note: my girl made me so proud the other day! She came home and said a kid at school asked her, “Have you ever had cookies or cake?” She asked him why he asks and he said, “because you eat so healthy!” Her response was, “Yes, of course I eat cookies & cake, just not all the time!” That’s right my girl 👏🏼 you are wise beyond your years! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We don’t demonize food in our house. Yes, we talk about eating healthy, the reasons why certain foods are healthier than others. But we also talk about how it’s fine to enjoy them and when we do, we don’t make a big deal about it. It’s something I try to be very conscious of b/c I know how important it is in their development & relationship w/ food. Especially my girl because I’m reminded everyday (like the example above) that people will question her about her food choices & that I won’t be able to control/protect her for forever! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • This is what happens when you’ve been slackin’ on your job and all your veggies are about to go bad 😬 but I ain’t mad about this stir-fry in my mouth!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A couple of weeks ago I chatted on stories about participating in a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture). We picked up our first box end of last week and I’m already in LOVE! We got so much good shit. So many gorgeous leafy greens but guess who failed to store them properly so they were getting a tad limp 🙋🏼‍♀️... and no body has time for limp greens 👎🏼 it’s okay though, I redeemed myself with this concoction! Check it below’! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

dEATS: chop all your veggies. I did onion, red bell pepper, bok choy, kale & mushrooms • in a hot skillet, heat @chosenfoods avocado oil • first throw in onion & pepper, season with salt & pepper and cook until onions are translucent • then throw in your mushrooms along with a dollop of @ancientorganics ghee + sauté until mushrooms have softened • now for the bok choy and cook for about a minute or two • last but not least, the kale + I also grated some fresh ginger & garlic on it all and gave it a good mix • now for the final ingredient, @bigtreefarmsbali coconut aminos. Add about 2 tbsp. to deglaze the pan as well as give the stir-fry that yummy sweet, savory flavor. Cook until coconut aminos have been absorbed • top with some black sesame seeds & serve as a side or with your favorite protein! #cleanmodernmayhem

  • Things that fuel your body and soul: a friend where you can barge into their home at 8:30am, demand food and in turn, they makes you something this sexy!

I hit the friend jackpot w/ @savoringtheflavoring for MANY reasons but the fact that she is a badass bitch in the kitch is def a huge bonus!! And have you seen her, I mean come on 🤤 how she did 👇🏼 while I was sitting on my ass enjoying my hot tea also made by her 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- she hand shaved brussel sprouts, sautéed and browned in a cast-iron skillet using @vitalfarms grass-fed ghee

-Once they were nice and crispy, she added a dallop or two of pesto and cooked for an additional minute or two
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It happens when I spend more than 5 minutes outside during the months of April & May, then I turn into Quasimodo. So in my efforts to not scare people with my pollen swollen eyes & distorted face from sneezing attacks, I have been researching & trying natural remedies to help my seasonal allergies. Insert bee pollen! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’ll be surprised to know it isn’t just to make insta pics prettier! Turns out, it is WAYYYYY more badass than just helping with allergy relief. So I am here to give you the low down on bee pollen: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-these little gold nuggets contain almost all of the nutrients the human body needs🤯 Told you...badass ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-a natural allergy relief ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-the reason honey has all of the health benefits but just over there taking all the credit ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, lipids, fatty acids, enzymes & a bunch more scientific names that basically mean good shit that your body needs to thrive ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-its antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-these babies reduce inflammation, boost immune system & naturally lower cholesterol ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-and another real kicker, it contains MORE protein than any animal source 🙀 meaning lots of good amino acids our bodies need to rebuild, repair and thrive! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So here is an example of how I incorporate it into my diet.   • Quasimodo season in full force over here! What is that you ask? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    It happens when I spend more than 5 minutes outside during the months of April & May, then I turn into Quasimodo. So in my efforts to not scare people with my pollen swollen eyes & distorted face from sneezing attacks, I have been researching & trying natural remedies to help my seasonal allergies. Insert bee pollen! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    You’ll be surprised to know it isn’t just to make insta pics prettier! Turns out, it is WAYYYYY more badass than just helping with allergy relief. So I am here to give you the low down on bee pollen: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    -these little gold nuggets contain almost all of the nutrients the human body needs🤯 Told you...badass ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

    -rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, lipids, fatty acids, enzymes & a bunch more scientific names that basically mean good shit that your body needs to thrive ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    -its antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal

I love it because it starts more conversation & self reflection about a topic we desperately need more of. When I started on my health journey I had zero intention that it would also turn into a journey of being more mindful about our planet & eco-friendly living. That’s what’s so holistic about it all, which I love. What’s healthier for us is also healthier for our planet 🙌🏼 sometimes I think we forget it’s truly that simple. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

ANYWAYS, bringing you a quick, simple weeknight dinner that will make the whole family happy b/c chicken fingers ARE LIFE!

“Bread” them with pistachios ☠️ dunk ‘em in homemade honey mustard & serve with some greens because you know health and shit...how I did 👇🏼

Chicken fingers: In one bowl dump some mayo (I used my homemade mayo, saved in my highlights & recipe on my blog) + in another bowl dump in your pistachios crumbs via the blender or food processor OR put them in a bag & beat the &$!$ out of them + take chicken cutlets and with one hand coat them with mayo, with the other hand coat with pistachio & lay on a baking sheet + cook at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes or until chicken is at 165 degrees ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Salad: throw some mixed greens in a bowl (I did @organicgirl super greens + romaine because I like crunch) I also cut up some cucs & dressed it all with EVOO, fresh squeezed lemon, s & p ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Honey mustard: I just make my own w/ brown mustard & local honey using a 2:1 ratio but you do you. Mix & taste until it has the flavor & consistency you desire ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

& VIOLA! Dinner is served 💃🏼 #cleanmodernmayhem

  • Let’s have a chitty chat about protein 💪🏼 i get asked a lot about how much protein I eat & if I use protein powders. So here we go👇🏼

I feel like there is ALOT of conversation about fats & carbohydrates...good carbs v bad carbs, good fats v bad fats BUT there isn’t a lot of talk about protein. There seems to be more in regards to the amount of protein one should be getting but not as much about the importance of quality. Here’s what I know: protein is extremely important, literally the building blocks of life! The amount is specific to the individual, activity level & phase of life. The quality is equally as important as the quantity & that’s where I think we lack. There are a ton of protein powders out there but a lot of them are heavily processed & loaded with unnecessary shiz. I prefer to get mine the old fashion way...real, whole foods via appropriate amounts of animal protein (if that’s your thing) that are organic/grass-fed & LOTS of plant-based protein like nuts, seeds, veggies & legumes is your tummy tolerates them. If I do any protein powders, I always use a 1 ingredient source like collagen peptides, brand example: @greatlakesgelatin or @vitalproteins or a seed based powder like hemp seed protein, brand example: @nutiva Another thing to be mindful of when meal planning or looking at your protein amounts is, any excess protein will be stored as fat, not muscle. Needless to say, it’s important to know your individual needs before supplementing! An individuals weight, health, activity level & goals should be taking into account, so as always, bio-individuality rules and finding what works for YOU is key! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Above is a simple meal example of a good source of clean, animal & plant based proteins. I did sautéed @bilinskisausage organic chicken sausage w/ perfectly crispy brussel sprouts pan seared in avocado oil. Brussels are an amazing source of plant based protein giving you 4g in just 1 cup 💪🏼👏🏼 simple, clean and badass! #cleanmodernmayhem
