  • The #winterIsNotComing. In fact, it’s retreating at a rapid pace. Snow is melting away and spring temps are rising fast, with highs in the 90s F. We recommend hiking earlier in the morning to beat the heat of those afternoon/evening highs. Unfortunately, access to the higher elevations, including Telescope Peak and Wildrose Campground, is not possible due to significant road damage. There is no estimated opening date at this point. Check our website (link in bio) for current conditions before you visit. #SummerIsComing #HottestOnEarth #HideUnderARock (pic taken a few weeks back thanks to @rsphotolog) #DeathValleyLove #LeaveNoTrace

  • Some things are popular for a reason. 👆😍Zabriskie Point overlook at sunrise is an awe-inspiring experience - and it attracts a lot of visitors! As folks spread out along the overlook to have a more solitary experience, they have created countless social trails on the soft badland hills. This causes erosion and detracts from the untouched landscape. It’s a tough trade off, but sometimes sticking to the more popular areas will mean less of an impact on this beautiful resource. What do you think? (Picture thanks to @3rd.inspiration) #EnjoytheView #LeaveNoTrace #DeathValleyLOVEdtoDeath @leavenotracecenter

  • What could be better than an alluvial fan? One covered with flowers! DV Alluvial fan club members rejoice! There are a few sporadic and random fans that have sprouted patches of wildflowers. With the oncoming heat, these flowers will wither in days. The good news is that blooming is being spotted in the higher elevations - 2,000 ft to 3,000 ft - so check out Daylight Pass Road and Titus Canyon to see April flowers! #AlluvialFanClub #AlluviumANDflowers😍 #DeathValleyLove (Pics/NPS/Kessler) #ProTip: If you love flowers, please don’t pick or step on them. Each flower provides a service to the ecosystem and produces next seasons flowers!

  • We ❤️ volunteers! DV volunteers help out with everything from visitor services to illegal off-road damage rehab. Follow along this #nationalvolunteerweek to hear about all the amazing work they do! Have you enjoyed the views at the racetrack? Volunteers assisted in rehabilitation of the playa after off-road damage. Thank you! 🥰🥰 (Pic thanks to @mrhollender and NPS) #VolunteersRock #DeathValleyLove

  • Just in time for April 1st, the #SuperBloom everyone has been waiting for is happening at Death Valley! #BigFlowers #BigBees #RangersIntheirFreeTime #AprilFools In all seriousness, check our website (link in bio) for actual DV Wildflower updates, as we are expecting blooming in the higher elevations as spring continues.

  • We know you’d actually #SwipeRight for Death Valley, but take a finger stroll across this unique winter view - snow on the Eureka Sand Dunes! 😍 Death Valley is the hottest place on earth, but that doesn’t mean we don’t also get cold temps too. With elevations ranging across the park up to 11,000 ft, you can experience it all here! #LayerUp #ProTip: #NoSledding on these #SandDunes 😝 (pic thanks to @tripodtales from earlier this year)

  • Of course there are Joshua Trees at the end of the rainbow! #PotofJoshuaTrees > #PotofGold. #🌈 Though the park’s lower elevations did not experience any #superbloom, we are still expecting some great blooms in the upper elevations (3,000 - 5,000 ft!) Different types of plants grow here, so it won’t be the carpets of flowers that happen in the lower elevations, but still 😍. Plan a visit for late April, possibly mid-May to check it out! (Pic thanks to @adamparkmanphoto) #DeathValleyLove #ProTip: they may appear hardy, but some of the desert plants are pretty fragile. Please be careful walking amongst them. For your safety too! #ChollaNoJoya

  • The best cure for a case of the #Mondays... planning your next trip to Death Valley! About the size of #connecticut, the park is best visited with a little planning done before you arrive. Check out our website (link in bio) for helpful info about what to see, where to camp, and which roads might be closed. #ClicktheWebsite #WeWontTellYourBoss 🤫 #DVDayDreams (pic thanks to @wilderness_john)

  • Some people look for shapes in the clouds, Death Valley fans look for shapes in the salt! Throughout the valley floor, salt formations take shape due to the evaporation of ground water. They will look different because of factors that are specific to their location. Some of the most famous are the salt polygon shapes found most notably at Badwater Basin. What have you seen in the salt? #Lowest #Hottest #Saltiest? #ProTip: Dispersed camping is only allowed in certain parts of the backcountry - it is not allowed on “the valley floor,” which includes the salt flat. Check our website (link in bio) for more info! #CampResponsibly (Pic thanks to @cult45)
