“There is no failure except in no longer trying. Never never never give up 💕 I constantly have to remind myself how far I’ve come with my journey. And as I get closer and closer to the 1 year mark post gastric sleeve surgery, I think about how different my life would be right now had I not made the decision to choose this path. I remember being so scared of sharing this journey and having hesitations for fear that I would be judged but I had to let go of those and allow myself to make my own decisions rather than let myself be influenced by the judgement of others. I knew that it would was beneficial for my future health and happiness and I worked incredibly hard to ensure its success. Had I not, I wouldn’t be where I am today. 🙌🏼 Remember that when making decisions because at the end of the day, no-one has to live with the consequences of them but you ✨"

I present you with why I argue (and get a bit upset) whenever I see the frequent comment “You’re so lucky you kept your boobs! I’m so jealous!” Ummmm no no, honey! I sure didn’t keep them, and I promise that you would not be jealous if you knew how they looked without a bra!
.
PSA: I STRONGLY advise against saying to someone how “lucky” they are for X, Y, or Z in relation to their body after weight loss because: 1️⃣ You never truly know from just seeing a picture, and 2️⃣ you’re most likely not comparing apples to apples. It’s all about perspective! Starting out as an overflowing L cup, of course my chest is still going to be big after weight loss compared to someone who started as a C or DD. That doesn’t mean I didn’t lose a TON of weight there or that they look good or normal still when they’re not covered by clothes. In fact, I’ve lost most of the volume in them and I swear they’re mostly loose skin at this point. They are hands down my biggest insecurity!

With all that being said, I would NEVER trade the good health that I’ve gained through this process to get my “good boobs” back. Just like the rest of the loose skin all over my body, it’s trivial compared to being 28 years old and in constant physical pain from carrying over 350lbs around on my 5’1” frame. I’ll take all the loose skin in the world over being afraid I won’t live to see my 30th birthday!!”

When I think about it, I’m sometimes ashamed that my daughter witnessed my self-loathing for so many years. I always preached self-confidence to her but I couldn’t muster up the empathy to embrace it myself because I knew what she didn’t… I was fat and fat was humiliating. When I look at this picture from our family trip in 2016 I know my sweet girl isn’t judging me or ashamed of me. She’s simply looking up to her mom… following my lead… learning how she should feel about her own body. If I could go back I would have seen myself through her eyes and realized that my weight was never the problem. It was my poor self-confidence and terrible self-esteem that was humiliating- not my body. I’m proud of the goals I’ve achieved and continue to work hard towards and I’m proud that my girls can witness my new healthy lifestyle. But I am even more proud that my daughters have a strong mom to look up to. Not because I weigh less, but because I know better. I know that my self-worth and self-confidence is in no way related to the size of my body or societies’ perception of it. And instead of telling them how to have self-confidence ... I can lead by example ♥️
