The perfect first night of our hiking trip was with this view. The Denali mountain range and a sunset that lasted throughout the night and into the morning with the summer solstice. Beautiful colors that never ended. Made for a long night of little sleep to soak it all in.

Alaska checked off a couple bucket list items for me. One of which was my first ice cave! Tucked under a mountain of snow, you weren’t expecting a tiny entry to lead to winding tunnels with this view. Those patterns and colors were incredible to see. I can’t wait to find more to explore.

Morning breakfast was more important than the humans on the bank gawking over this big guy. We watched him for quite awhile, as he slowly munched away on the greens growing under the water. With Denali mountain in the background, it was quite the picturesque moment for us.

Our country has some of the most beautiful and diverse lands. Deserts, mountains, beaches, glaciers, and so much more. Sunsets like these are why I spend all my free time and vaca hours hiking. Get out there and appreciate those views. I promise you won’t regret it.

I’ll never get tired of seeing these rolling layers. This sunset was spent with a few friends. Sitting on the bed of a truck. Drinking some craft beer and soaking in those beautiful views. One of my favorite spots to stop at just to take it all in. My happy place.

Kayaking through some glacier chunks is quite the COOL experience. Just need to add in those Humpbacks migrating. The landscapes and wildlife in Alaska are insane. At least for those summer months. Those winters though...aka White Walker temps. 🥶

Slivers of those warm sun rays peaking through the clouds for a sunset I am currently daydreaming about right now.
Moments like these are what make working your butt off to save for those trips all worth it.
Eating in instead of out. Watching classic movies on Netflix instead of going to the movie theaters for the new stuff. Bypassing the shopping malls. You name it. I’ve found so many ways to make that penny go the extra mile. All the way to places like Alaska in this shot. 😊

I love being able to have fun with photography after I’ve learned new tricks, YouTubed, researched, blogged, you name it! There’s so much to shooting. This shot was on a local hike just after I had gone to Big Bend NP and was taught about light painting. I couldn’t wait to go home and start my night hikes and shooting out in east Tn away from the light pollution. I twirled in a circle with my arms and headlamp, looking ridiculous, for this one. Trade secret: It’s also something that I’ve done to write a boyfriend’s name (at the time) and score some brownie points for being cool and unique. I’m sure tons of other photographers have done this at some point or another to their SO. 😎 can’t beat doing something different than buying chocolate or flowers.

A popular hangout spot, and I could see why. Family activities, picnic areas, water sports, and this view. We may have had a lot of people standing around us for this sunset, but it didn’t make it any less beautiful of a view. It does, however, make me appreciate those harder hikes more for sunset views. Next time I’ll bring a blow up SUP to enjoy the view from the water. 💙

Taking to the skies was just as beautiful as hiking those same mountain trails. We spent a few days hiking in and around these mountains at this park. The wildfires had grown rapidly, and they had closed the park due to the increased smoke and direction of the fire a week before we were scheduled to hike in. We started planning other spots to hike, and by chance they had reopened the park just in time for us to go. Taking a helicopter ride out, it was a moment where we all appreciated more than just the view. To know just past these mountains there were miles of land destroyed by wildfires. It’s a tough sight to witness. Embrace these moments and appreciate what we have. Do your part to Leave No Trace and protect what we have the ability to with our own hands.

Hard to beat these break-time views. Perfect temperatures. A little bit of stormy clouds. Our first taste of the Dolomites up close. It was pretty sweet.

Cold nights and lost sleep. That’s usually what I think prior to deciding if I want to shoot Milky Way and stars. I always talk myself into going through with it, and I never regret it. Team no sleep!
