Wine grapes ✨ Gewürztraminer, to be exact. Although they're a lovely red color, these grapes will become sweet white wine. I've always wanted to get my hands on some wine grapes; major thanks to my talented pals @maloofwines for letting me in on the harvest and teaching me a bit about them! The chemistry behind fermented drinks is SO cool. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on some of their usually-sold-out wines, do yourself a favor and try some! 🍷

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend?! Mine was busy but ..didn’t check anything off my to do list 😋..had dinners out & ate too much, no sports that just slipped my mind ..just wonderful! I promised myself I’ll do better this week 😇 Ok, let’s talk wine 🤩🍷 The oldest winery in the world is around 6100 years old & it’s located in Armenia 🇦🇲. Yes, today I like to share another, so to speak unusual wine, this time from Armenia 😀🌎 To be quite frank, I haven’t visited Armenia, I don’t know anything about Armenia 🤭 Have you been or tasted any Armenian wine?
Armenia is one of the most ancient countries on the wine map of the world. The main winemaking regions of modern Armenia are: the Ararat valley; mountain region Vayots Dzor; Aragatsotn (located at a bottom of an extinct volcano) Aragats and Tavush. Many vineyards are on volcanic soil at average altitudes of 800 meters above sealevel. Although the winters in Armenia are very cold, the most famous red grape variety, "Areni", can withstand this and produces impressive wines.
In total there are about 17 thousand hectares of vineyards. Armenia is the country with severe climate for which the hot summer with a temperature over 40C/104F and frosty winters are characteristic.
Armenia, has rediscovered the old method of storing wine in amphora. I already shared the Georgian winemaking process with you, named Qvevri. In Armenia they apparently do not use that word, they use the Armenian word for amphora: "karasi".
This bottle is from the winery @ArmAswines and originates from the Aragatsotn province. ArmAs is a brand new winery built in a formerly dry land by Armenian-Americans who came from California to participate in the rebirth of the wine business in Armenia. The winery produces a variety of Areni wine under the brand ArmAs. 🍇🍇Megrabuir, Areni & Kakhet 👁 👁 deep purple 👃 Cherry, strawberry, plums 👄 it’s a wine with intense & bold aromas of cherries, plums and rose petals, with obvious present notes of white pepper and cinnamon. It’s a full bodied wine with pretty firm tannins and a slightly low acidity. The wine finishes with notes of herbes like laurel, pepper and vanilla.

EXCELLENT DAY OUT IN MANCHESTER AT @peopleschoicewineawards 🍾👨🏼⚖️
Excellent to catch up with existing friends, meet new people and put faces to the names of people I regularly engage with on Instagram 📷 This wonderful world of wine really can be great ❤️
Have you met any new friends on Wine Instagram? TAG THEM in the COMMENTS below if you have 👫
I’ve met so many great people who are now my friends through this shared love of wine. After judging at the @peopleschoicewineawards we headed to @salutwines and had some absolutely excellent food and wine 🍷
We tucked in to a wine from new-generation proprietor Damien Livera has taken his family estate in Gevrey to a new level, by focusing intently on the health of his vines. The Livera family’s Domaine des Tilleuls, based in Gevrey-Chambertin, produces wines that are not only clear snapshots of their appellation but reminiscent of the more woodsy, rustic red Burgundies of generations past 🕰
But don’t let the word “rustic” throw you. These are clean, ripe, technically sound wines, expressing a purity of fruit that comes from careful vineyard stewardship. Young Damien Livera (son of Philippe, whose name graces the label) has found the sweet spot where sweet Pinot Noir fruit is balanced by serious soil character 💪🏼
This 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin “En Champs” is a serious step up from his Bourgogne Rouge in body, aromatic complexity, and length. And if you haven’t yet turned on to this up-and-coming house, this sumptuous old-vine red makes one heck of a first impression 😍
