‘The Kiss’ (Italian: Il bacio), 1859 by Francesco Hayez.
This oil version is undoubtedly the most famous, but Hayez produced three other versions of the painting. The painting depicts a couple from the Middle Ages, embracing while they kiss each other. It is among the most passionate and intense representations of a kiss in the history of Western art.
It is now present at the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, Italy.
