Early mornings at the mosque. 🕌
One of my favorites spots in Bukhara is the Poi Kalon square, with its Minaret Kalon, the Kalyan Mosque, and the Miri Arab Madrassas. Early mornings you can find local ladies in headscarves headed to the courtyard for their morning Quran lessons.
The city of Bukhara was a major trade and artisan crafts center along the Silk Road, and home to famous rules like Gengis Khan and Timur the conqueror. It was a major intellectual center of the islamic world during the golden age of the Persians and today city has been declared a unesco world heritage site.
Bukhara is also the best city to visit local artisans who have still retained their ancient art forms such as silk embroidery, knives making, puppet making, Suzani embroidery, and Ikat textile making. Traveling with #acanelaexpeditions@acanelaexpeditions
