Invisible, unspoken and often ignored, mental illness carries a stigma that restricts recovery and disrupts progress. Despite recent improvements in diagnosis, treatment and understanding, there’s still a long way to go when it comes to how modern-day society approaches mental health. An important step along the path to creating a more mentally healthy world is awareness. And that’s what artist @gabriel_isak’s work is all about. Hi everyone! It’s @shilahsirois here for the last day of my #Photoshop takeover! This image is very special to me because I had the concept in my head for well over a year.
I had a small background to work with, so I began by extending my canvas and duplicating and extending my curtains. Then, I added the floating skirt and dangling feet and raised us up above the ground. I actually replaced my hair as well for a better hair shot. It’s always in the details! The real magic happened through color grading, dodging and burning, and a couple of misty and sparkly overlays.
I’m so excited to introduce the theme for this month! And what could be a better theme for October than #Ps_Whimsical ! October is the time of year where everything shifts and magic enters the air, am I right? I dare say I am the most inspired during this month. Be sure to tag your images with #Ps_Whimsical for a chance to be featured!

Hi again! It’s @shilahsirois! Have you ever had a moment where everything stops and you are just instantly struck with inspiration? Well, I had one of these moments watching one of the Harry Potter films years ago. I waited nearly an entire year for Halloween to come around so I could create this image. It was so appropriate for the season that I couldn’t see creating it any other time of year! Any guesses to which HP film inspired this image? I know I have some fellow Potterheads out there!
Be sure to check out the Photoshop Instagram Stories to see how I created this shot! This pose was definitely no friend to my abs!

Hi everyone, it’s @shilahsirois! This image was created with a combination of about 20 different images. The base shot is a picture of a building that I actually took with my phone at Disney World earlier this year. The building only had two stories, so I added the third story in this image to create some more drama in the height. The rest of the images are stock images, with the exception of my cameo appearance peeking out the window.
To create the breaking rocks, I actually used special rock brushes to paint away the areas in order to create natural-looking jagged edges. The glow in the windows and on the string lights are simply created by painting with soft brushes and using the gradient tool to create tiny glowing orbs.
This composite is a great example of the power of color grading in #Photoshop ! Check out the Photoshop Instagram Stories to see all of the different source images that went into creating this final image!

Hi everyone! @shilahsirois here for my third day of this week’s takeover!
This shot was taken in my house where I have nothing but plain white walls and a couple of panels I paint different colors to have different background options. However, I can only do so much with paint. Sometimes, I get these ideas in my head, like having a beautiful wallpapered background for example. I could do one of two things: I could spend a ton of money and time and frustration getting the wallpaper and wallpapering the walls for my background, OR I could Photoshop the wall for free. Which one do you think I picked?
