Yellow Taxi : The soul of the "City Of Joy", KOLKATA..!
The photographer clicked this photo in the cultural capital of India, Kolkata from his recent India visit, Dec'18 to Jan'19. He was looking for something special for his 75th post in Instagram and ultimately realised what could it be besides Kolkata, the city of Nostalgia and the city where he lived most of his life !! But what defines Kolkata? It is not just a city with outstanding enthusiasm for football, food, adda (chatting) and politics or boundless passion for music, culture and literature, It is a city with old colonial architectures like Monument, Town-hall, Fort William, Victoria Memorial, Princep ghat and Howrah bridge, the city of Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore and Satyajit Roy, the city that renowned for its Misti-Doi, Rosogolla and Sandesh, where trams run since ancient years and the hand-pulled rickshaw still shows its existence. But considering all, it is the Yellow Ambassador Taxi, which is still the most prime identities of Kolkata, they are the soul of this City of Joy in true sense, carrying the vintage divineness in the aura of Kolkata and being an Kolkatan he's very proud of this nostalgic icons of Kolkata, the city with emotions.
P.S. Where International and National photographers loved to catch the very essence of Calcutta in this quintessential shot with yellow taxis, but these Hindustan Motor products (now out of production) are having tough times with multi-national companies like Ola and Uber entering the passenger friendly cab service market with use of latest technology and GPS and if the trend persists, the City of Joy could lose one of its favourite faces before the world.
