  • I’ve been made fun of my entire life... I never felt like I truly fit in anywhere and jokes have always been made at my expense. I realized though a long time ago that it was very important for my soul to never allow people to control or dictate who I am as a person.

I go against the grain a lot, not intentionally but once again, being yourself usually means you’re gonna go against what is “normal” in society. This inevitably makes you “different” and opens you up to people poking fun because of their own insecurities.

From my fashion, an obsession with sunsets, drinking wine, that I like being a “pretty boy”, my love of Spanish music and chick flicks... these and a hundred other personality traits make up who I am and I’ll never be afraid to show it regardless of what others think.

It’s pretty messed up that we live in a reality where being yourself and showing the world the real you is scary and requires courage but then again, that means there is huge opportunity to stand out from the herd.

I’m always evolving, learning more about myself, and I’m happy to have this platform to showcase the real me.

The biggest compliment I get all the time is “you’re exactly who you are online” and I love that shit.

  • This is my dad. I’m 25 and he’s 91. ⁣

My dad is the toughest man I know. ⁣

Hes an entrepreneur & he came to the U.S. with nothing. ⁣
⁣
He served for the U.S. as a 19 year old kid in World War II barely able to speak English⁣ ( stationed in Seoul for 2 years.)
⁣
He was broke, had no support from his family, traveled state to state looking for a job as a low paying cook and ended up owning his own famous restaurant for nearly 20 years despite all his struggles. ⁣

He calls it luck.....⁣

I call it hard fucking work.⁣

I write this for two reasons... ⁣
⁣
One, because I know my entrepreneur roots come from him. He taught me what true grit and hard work is. ⁣

Nothing is handed to you. ⁣

Two, because he has taught me to value the present moment and not always be about the hustle and the grind. ⁣
⁣
Realistically, my time with him is limited. ⁣
⁣
& it terrifies me. ⁣

But it also gives me hope.⁣

These next few years I’m committing to achieving everything I set out to do & also make our valuable time together the best years ever. ⁣

This is a blessing...⁣
⁣
& I’m so glad I’m learning to value the most important man in my life now at such a young age. ⁣

I commit to living my life to the fullest & being the highest version of me. ⁣
⁣
Because this is what my dad worked so hard for — to see me, his youngest daughter, live out a life that I’M proud of. ⁣

Here’s a lesson for everyone out there hustling:⁣
Remember to cherish every single moment with your parents. As you get older.. they do too. ⁣

Papa Pon is getting minor hand surgery tomorrow because he has some pain, but other than that, he’s still VERY healthy! 😊 He has great memory, his legs are good and he still jokes around! ( & on rare occasions.. drinks a little beer hehe) ⁣

It’s about having some motivation to become better and better everyday, and have the freedom to do, or drive what you want in life.

Believe me I though the same thing until I got educated on what your body actually needs post workout
.
To start, let’s talk about what the body does while you’re working out. Specifically resistance training
.
When you’re training you’re breaking down your muscles and during this they utilize glycogen stores for energy
.
The first thing you’re body is going to do when you eat post workout is replenish those stores
.
This is where just taking protein is proven to be not enough. Your body is going to use it to replenish the glycogen and then whatever is left over it will use to build the broken down muscle

By the way I tried the Air Assault Runner. Holy Cow! That upped my HIIT game big time. I could only do 20 minutes, and my last few sprints definitely were slower. But I did the HIIT right. That's how it's supposed to be. Slightly feeling a little queasy the last few.⁣

You know high intensity cardio is the only way you grow more mitochondria right?⁣
⁣
Mitochondria is the powerhouse of your body, it's like a little transformer that creates energy. It gives you endurance for everything you do in life.⁣

I talked about nutrition sustainability the other day and working out is just the same. You’ve got the find something that YOU enjoy.

And guess what? That may change.

I started lifting in the gym and doing bodybuilding style of workouts for about the past 3 years.
.
At the start of this year I was starting to dread going to the gym. It was such a chore, I was maybe going twice a week and I was simply not enjoying my workouts.
.
That was a major red flag for me since working out has always been something that I’ve enjoyed. So I tried something new! And that just so happened to be CrossFit. (Which if you know me is a huge deal because I used to trash talk it SO MUCH). .
Turns out, I love it! The challenge is great, I’m looking forward to working out again and it’s something I am consistently doing.

This is not to say to go out and start doing CrossFit. But if you’re feeling burnt out with your current routine, try something new! Whether that be yoga, swimming, EMOM’s in the gym, at home workouts, try it all! See what works for you.

Just like with nutrition, the best workout is the one that you and enjoy and can sustain long term.

  • The past 75 days have been an absolute challenge. Every day had a different difficulty and yeah I had times I wanted to just cheat and not say anything. Who would know?
But that's what its all about. Staying true to yourself, keeping your integrity. You are the one person you can't lie to.
This challenge helped me prove to myself that I can commit to me.
I do feel more attuned to how I make excuses and how I motivate myself. Ill be honest, called myself a b* numerous times a day to make sure I got something done. 
The point was to get in control of me, and I challenge everyone to do something difficult everyday. Get uncomfortable. Get out of your box. Get into the hot seat. Work towards your potential. But, anyways... what does speed have to do with anything training related?

First we have to understand what happens when we lift weights.
.
Every time we're train, micro trauma tears are created in our muscles. Now, I get that sounds bad, but it's not... it's actually the whole point.

When your body repairs those tears, that's when the muscle grows.

Our bodies are wonderful machines, they know exactly what to do to repair themselves and do so without fail, in a specific order of operations.

The most important thing you can do to help your own body out is give it the fuel it needs to do those things.

  • I used to believe the best way to maximize the results of my workouts was to fast before and after my workout.

I would go hours without eating prior to working out and wait several hours after finishing the workout before eating. I really thought that this would help me burn more calories and build muscle.

Turns out, I was doing exactly the opposite of what I needed to be doing. What you put into your body immediately after intense exercise can make or break your results.
