  • Photography is is fun but makes it even more interesting is everything that comes with it. Exploring new places, the luxury to be able to observe all the subtle surroundings we often ignore and just to take it all in.

  • The Legislative Assembly of Ontario. I work for the provincial government as a manager of an economic policy team. I’ve worked in Indigenous issues for over ten years. My job has allowed me to experience more of my home province than I ever thought possible. From looking out at a sleeping giant in Thunder Bay and vibrant lakeside sunsets in Kenora to seeing scars from mining and colourful fall foliage while flying over the province and wandering Parliament Hill in the nation’s capital, I love exploring Ontario
.
I started working in public service as an annoying voice on the other side of a telephone, calling citizens and businesses for Statistics Canada surveys. Fourteen years later, I am still serving the public. I did not get into public service for treasure or glory. I would do what I do for less; I deserve much less given the very particular set of skills that I have acquired over my life. I am happy to stay in the same position for years on end so long as I am contributing to a greater good and expanding my very particular set of skills.
.
Under my bloated exterior is more than convictions for donuts and burgers. I believe public service, and particularly the field of public policy, is about dedicating oneself to finding creative, fair and progressive ways of promoting peace, order and good government. Self-interest and ambition take a back seat. It is about giving the best possible advice with impartial evidence, and being ok when decisions or timing fail to go ‘your way’. I genuinely love the possibilities public service affords us, and embrace its challenges, despite rarely communicating this passion.
.
That’s a little about me. I hope whoever is reading this finds their work equally rewarding.
