WBB Family meet Kateena Thomas and Latisha Armstrong, owners of Perfectly Hued (@perfectlyhued)•
𝐖𝐁𝐁: So, why start a greeting card company? •
𝐏𝐇: We really wanted to fill a void, it was just that simple. We felt there weren’t any greeting cards available that reflected our children. We saw a problem and decided to do something about it. Therefore, we created high-quality, fun and stylish products that mirror the beautiful hues of our little ones. •
𝐖𝐁𝐁: That’s amazing and I’m sure not without challenges. Have you had any? •
𝐏𝐇: Well we are still working our full time jobs. Taking time to put everything we have into the business along with managing households can be a tall order, but we’re up for the task. We are surrounded by so much love and support that we’ve almost forgotten the sleepless nights. However, as business owners we do expect some bumps in the road. But, we are up for the challenge, we’re in this for the long haul. •
𝐖𝐁𝐁: What has made your hearts smile the most throughout your entrepreneurial journey? •
𝐏𝐇: Wow! That’s an easy answer. The overwhelming love we have received from customers. The happy smiles, the excitement from little girls and boys saying, "this card looks like me.” moms saying, "Finally!, A card for my little one.” Just being able to bring joy to so many families is extremely rewarding. •
𝐖𝐁𝐁: What’s next for Perfectly Hued? I’m sure you have goals set. •
𝐏𝐇: Our two main goals are to create beautiful greeting cards and have a financially thriving business. However, when we think about the end goal and the motivation behind the brand, one more distinct goal surfaces. That is having every Black child realize the skin they’re in is PERFECT! It’s Perfectly Hued to be exact! We know, that sounds cliché, But being able to fill a void of something that’s missing in our community is what keeps us going daily. Every card received by a Black child, girls and boys, in our opinion, is truly sweet success! •

Adulting is hard!!! Is there anyone else who was not expecting adulthood to be THIS hard? To be this complicated? To be such a struggle to balance?
There are some absolute perks to being an adult but there is a lot that can make us feel ill prepared. .
☑️The passing of loved ones. ☑️Losing long term partners and marriages and starting over. .
☑️How hard it is be a caregiver to children or parents or grandparents. ☑️Budgeting .
☑️Paying bills. All. The. Time. ☑️Balancing work life, family life and social life.
Life can be difficult at times. What I do know is that having a good support system makes it so much easier. Either with family, friends or a licensed professional.

You knoooowwwww I just wanna scream to the top of the mountains! My babies earned their way on the honor roll and acknowledged as student of the month. I give a fuck what anybody say about me, my crazy ass mouth, or take twerkin and drinking. This mommy shit I do and I do it very well.... PERIOD POOH!!! #proudmamabear#blackgirlsrock#blackexcellence#brainsandbeauty#blackgirlmagic
As a new entrepreneur our ideas and businesses are like our babies. We just want to coddle them. But just like a child, at some point we will have to hand them off to other people whether that be a teacher or coach to help them in their growth and development.
In business we must also be willing to pass our business of to other who can do things that we can’t or just simply to have the time to. Trying to do everybody yourself is probably the number one killer for young or start up entrepreneurs.
This is just one of the reasons your business may be struggling. What are some of the struggles you face as a business owner? How could your entrepreneurial journey be a bit easier? Are you getting in the way of your own business success?
👸🏿👸🏾👸🏽BLACK GIRL GANG: LETS TALK ABOUT IT👸🏿👸🏾👸🏽
only in recent years have we actually understood the need for a black sisterhood, a black girl gang! don’t get us wrong, we have white female friends but there is just something about being around people who are just like you and understand your daily struggle!
when we found our girl gang, it’s like something clicked! black girls are fierce, unapologetic and strong and that’s the kind of energy and vibe you need around you!
so, do you think it’s necessary for us to hang out with other black girls?
