“ I don’t want Sunday to be over !! Mom guilt is so real.. it has been 2 months since I went back to work. And it has driven me crazy.. the morning routine is always in a rush with very less baby cuddles .. after having some tough nights, the thought of waking up an leaving my little nugget is so f$$$ing hard. ⠀
Every afternoon I get the feeling of leaving my job and staying with my baby as long as she needs, but then staying at home with her make me crazy, that I have worked so hard to be here and I don’t want to start it from scratch.⠀
Stay at home moms are so incredible and so are working moms, their journey is so different but still have one thing common they keep their baby first !!! Motherhood is tough, and so am I. 🙌”⠀
Thank you for all of the BIRTHDAY WISHES & LOVE 🥰! Know that each and one of you made my birthday uniquely special. ❤️
Every year... life just keeps getting better and better. It’s crazy to know how much you can accomplish in 1 year by:

✨ Surrendering & letting go of what no longer serves you
✨ Building a stronger mindset
✨ Taking responsibility

✨ Setting healthy boundaries
Give yourself permission to elevate yourself. Do whatever you want to do FOR YOU.

So I did a little shopping this week and my first stop was at @fashiontofigure to try out the high rise and ultra high rise jeans. Check out my highlights for sizing tips and a full recap on all of the items I tried out. #ftfbabe .
Hey, I’m Shannon! I’m the creator, publisher, creative director, proof reader, marketing director, writer and all the the other titles that come into putting together a magazine. 💁🏻♀️
Recently, I’ve had a situation arise that caused me to pause and evaluate what I’m doing with this mag. I don’t want to get into details, but let’s just say someone was trying to intimidate and threaten me into silencing myself and the mag. 😡
I put this all together in my spare time (which is limited and precious). I do this to give mothers a voice. I don’t make any money; in fact it costs me money. I do this because it feels good for me and for everyone involved in getting it out there. 🙌🏽
I may not have hundreds of thousands of readers or a million followers, but I pride myself on having integrity, being passionate and being kind. ❤️
And so, the person who gave me cause to pause has actually just further fueled my fire. What I am doing here is good. And if someone doesn’t like it and resorts to attacking my credibility, it doesn’t bother me. 💁🏻♀️
If you want to spread the good, share the mag with other mothers you know. And if you don’t, that’s ok too. I’m happy doing what I’m doing if it finds just one person in need. ❤️ .
Real talk: Momming is hard. Thirteen is hard. Bossing is hard. This week has been hard.
I pour my all into my students daily. It’s my choice. My students need it. My students deserve it. Then, I come home. My tank is usually EMPTY, but this girl needs me. She needs her mom.
We have an IT Works member in training!

How else do you make it through the week with a sick kiddo on your hands? Coffee. There’s been a lot of waking up every few hours to either give medicine for fevers or waking up to a super sweet boy who isn’t feeling well and just wants to snuggle in your bed. #lularoecassie#lularoehudson#poweredbycoffee
I started my event planning business painting nails!?! 💅🏼💅🏼 It’s true! Crazy right?! 🤷🏽♀️ It may surprise you guys to know that I honestly just stumbled into being an event planner! It was never a goal of mine or a career path I had even thought about pursuing.
My mother was a hairstylist, and I had always admired growing up in the salon. I loved the feel, the environment, even the smell lol I knew for sure I wanted to do hair when I got of age and that I’d at least be a stylist during college why I worked my way into my dream job....and what was that you ask?! To work in the fashion industry! I loved fashion, hair, makeup, photo shoots, magazines omg I was obsessed. I literally had a collection of 100s of magazines that I just couldn’t throw away because I loved them so much! I always wanted to work for a magazine and so you can see now how my love for pretty photos was born! 😝 Long story short, after having my second son in college I started offering spa parties on the weekends when I didn’t have classes for extra 💵💵. I eventually got bored of only doing spa parties so I started adding more themes! I also didn’t like that the parties weren’t very photogenic (we were bringing plastic tablecloths and faux flowers because it was the cheapest thing I could find)....so I began adding more and nicer decor, which made my photos look better and my website look more expensive!
I finally realized after doing this for a year or so that I wasn’t just a hairstylist “doing spa parties” anymore, but an event planner! It felt weird to even say it at first, I was literally embarrassed to claim it because I felt so under qualified to have that title. But when I started looking at my business for what it was and who I was, then I was finally able to grow confident and curate a strong brand!! 💪🏼😉 #misseventplanner#misseventplanner101#businesswoman#blackgirlmagic#blackbusinessowner#blackbusinesswoman#blackbusinesswomen#latinaownedbusiness#eventplanner#partyblog#partyblogger#eventstylist#partystylist#familyblog#familyvloggers#diymom#mompreneur#momboss#bossmom#bossmomlife#mompreneurlife#eventplanning#mompreneurs#momblog#bossbabe#momblogger
These purchases were made in the hospital gift shop. By my third day there my nurse could tell I had cabin fever. I’m sure there is a reason for not allowing patients to run rapid through the hallways and on to other floors, but I also felt like I wasn’t just any other patient. That’s literally how I always feel, not sure if this is good or bad. I told my nurse I had gone long enough without shopping and needed to visit the gift shop. She politely walked me there and back. A million dollars later (because you know hospital gift shops are way overpriced) I walked away with a few reminders that I still had a major calling and purpose on my life. These items are in my home office now and remind of a few days when I felt in charge of absolutely nothing and still protected in the wings of God. I am blessed. I hope you are surrounding yourself with reminders of who you are!!!

My goal in my business this year is to make the incentive trip 😎
Wow what an amazing last day to our little family holiday. Finally made it up on the mountain once the runs weren't so icy. Didn't fall and felt good to be little more comfortable when out of my comfort zone.
Back to work on Thursday and am so excited to be working on a series called Mastering Instagram for Business. I'm going to take you step by step through the app, through the features, hashtags, Stories, IGTV, everything. And it's going to be a guide built with you, not just for you but by you. We're going to meet Live on Facebook weekly so I can answer your questions live and then I'm going to compile everything into a series that will be available on my website along with several bonus items.
Hit the ❤️ if you want me to send you the link for the Live event. It's going to be very in-depth and should help you with so many of your Instagram questions.

What's with the nightingale? 🐦
We chose the nightingale for our brand, Nightingale Social, because it represents our values so closely.
The nightingale is a humble brown bird without flashy feathers or an outrageous attitude.
Yet, its song is loud, clear, and widely considered to be the most beautiful of all birds.
That's what we wanted for our social media marketing agency.
Humble but with results that sing! 🎵🎶🎵
What about you? Does your business name have any particular meaning behind it?
A little glass of wine for me🍷 Yes👍😉 please. It is #nationalglassofwineday ladies. Did you have yours already? With a small slice of lime to give it that taste.

Before returning to work I already had that mindset that I wanted to be part time, and sure enough after my first full shift I knew I had to. I just couldn't wrap my head around the idea of seeing my baby "awake" for literally only 3 hrs a day. Many colleagues questioned my choice mentioning a baby comes with its financial challenges which of course I was aware of. I just simply knew it didnt matter the amount of money I brought home, that still wouldn't freeze time. She will only be this small ONCE! And with that in mind I knew I had to do whatever it takes 💪🏼
That is why I'm so thankful for It Works! I have the opportunity to still bring in some income WITHOUT taking away from my time with my daughter. She is my WHY 💕 Welcome to mission bring mom home! #workfromhome#bossmom

I love being a girl mom. I tell her she is beautiful every single day. I remind her she is strong and brave when she needs it. She is a natural sweetheart. Yet fierce. A strong temper easily provoked. She takes initiative and doesn't take no so easily. She enjoys being funny and purposely tries to be. She's good at it. She also makes everyone laugh when she's not trying at all. She loves dressing up, getting pretty and makeup. But she is also messy, wild and tough. She is unbelievably cheerful and strives to stay in a happy mood when it's hard to. She is smart. She is helpful. Her energy is contagious as is her laugh. She is my daughter and I love being her momma. My Lyla Jane, I promise to be the best mom I can be to you. Always. I believe joining Pure Romance is a key to that. I will make you proud baby girl. 😙😙💕💕👧🏼👩💕💕
God gave each of us something amazing to share with the world.
When we're too worried about our ego being hurt when we put ourselves out there, we are taking away the positive impact we COULD be having on others' lives.
• Share your gifts. • Put yourself out there. • Take a chance! •
I've been struggling alot lately. Between hurting my back and having limited mobility, plus my typical chronic depression that likes to creep up every once in a while, and the sudden, unexpected loss of a friend and derby league mate has had me a complete mess for the past couple of weeks.
We talk about self care a lot in the community, and sometimes it's fun and flowery like what good shows have you seen on Netflix lately, or oh my gosh I can't believe I ate that half a box of oreos for dinner the other! #cheatday !
But sometimes self care isn't so fun. Sometimes it's not just about helping you relax or treat yourself for doing such a great job. It's not all bubble baths and glasses of wine. Sometimes self care is just the way we make it through the day. Sometimes it's that extra long shower in the morning so you can bawl your eyes out and not break down in front of your kids. Sometimes it's takeout for dinner an embarrassing amount of times because you just can't bring yourself to plan, shop and cook. It's avoiding calls and meet ups because you don't have the energy to get dressed and hold yourself together in front of a friend.
Life isn't easy. We all struggle from time to time and it's important to listen to yourself and take care of your needs, no matter what those may be. Life still continues on around us, and sometimes it takes everything for us to just be able to participate. To be present. To show up- for work, for our families, our friends, our pets.
And that's ok. Whatever your self care looks like- do what you need to do to get through the day, and hopefully there's a little sunshine coming your way soon. ❤

✨THREE YEARS AGO—> I SAID 𝕐𝔼𝕊. .
Nervous, anxious, worried about what people would think or say, worried that no one would take me seriously because I’m not a hairstylist. Just a basic 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕪 𝕒𝕥 𝕙𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕞𝕒𝕞𝕒, decided to take the jump for a BIGGER future for my family. Knowing that I could end up with just a big discount on great products & get better hair... honestly that’s all I was expecting. I’m not a sales person, I don’t have a huge following, I’m nothing special. .
For the last 6 years I have been a stay at home mom. I’ve contributed to my family by raising our boys, striving to be the best wife, house work, dinners, making sure everyone is alive, allllll the Mama duties... it’s honestly the best job ever. The hardest I would say BY FAR, but I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. With that being said— I have always felt like I was missing something, searching for more, & wanting to contribute financially & do something for ME... I was a skeptic with MLMS & never wanted to be “that girl”... but when I saw what the products did for my hair I couldn’t turn it down & one of my best friends was also doing it so I loved the thought of more girl time with her! .
I can honestly tell you that my company is NOT your everyday MLM... not only are you going to get the best payout in the industry, but the community, the family, the support system is like NOTHING I have ever been apart of. I have dug into who I am for the first time ever, I have learned more about myself in the last 3 years than I have in my first 25 years (seriously). Self development is everything. I was able to earn a car in the first 8 months, go on trips that I never would have been on & let my husband have a straight 7 months off my first year of business STRESS FREE... that was the longest time we have ever all been together as a family.... I want that all the time. My goal now is bigger than ever, & so scary but it’s happening. .
If you have ever considered doing this business with me, watching from the sidelines, maybe you’ve been doubting yourself or worried about what people would think if you became “that girl” (the best kinda girl to go after her dreams & be BRAVE) LETS CHAT❤

Career by day, teacher by evening, student by night 🎓
One fun fact I’ve learned through grad school: learning is a lifelong experience and has sparked a passion in me for so much. My true belief is that the day we cease to yearn for knowledge is the day that we stop growing.
As I began researching homeschool methods, I found myself more in philosophical conundrums that created question upon question. One of my favorite realizations when I evaluated the quantity of content in traditional education was the stark contrast in how much is taught vs how much is retained by adulthood. I have found that as I’m seeking out learning by 🌺𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐈𝐂𝐄🌺, I learn in a way where the material is ingrained and not just memorized and regurgitated.
I’ll leave you with this thought for the evening.....if everything you were taught in childhood was necessary for the progression of your eduction, and you absorbed only fractions of material.....was the quantity actually necessary? I challenge you to think outside the box tonight and really do some soul searching about what 🌸𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆🌸means. #careersandhomeschool#homeschoolers#homeschoollifestyle#homeschooliscool#homeschoolfamilylife#bossmom

I was probably the least qualified person for a job like this 🥴
Did you know Jason used to tell me I would talk people OUT OF buying things? My friends in this photo can attest that I might as well have been a fly on the wall in social situations. I was insecure, unsure, and so full of doubt. I had absolutely no reason to believe I could be successful at this... Yet here I am. And I'm doing it!!
God has a way of doing that ya know - taking our little and making it everything ❤️
Because you see, it's not about what you have already, it's about being willing to take a step in the right direction. The door is open, my friends. It's up to you to walk through it, trust the process, and allow God to move in and through you.
I am a 𝒸𝒽𝒶𝓃ℊℯ𝒹 𝓌ℴ𝓂𝒶𝓃 because of this business and I am honored to help others the same way this helped me!
As we are approaching the finish line of homebuilding it has been fun to share our journey with you all! We started from house shopping to just weeks away from completion. I shared to help any of you that desire to go through the process and because I love just doing life with y’all! One popular question from my Q&A is related to how much to spend in upgrades. First remember this is YOUR house. So if you see other people building with extravagant upgrades don’t let it distract you. Ultimately you want to do what is best for your home and budget. ⭐️Here are a few tips that helped me. ❇️SAVE to reference later:
1️⃣Have a budget - its easy to go into the design center and want everything. But then you get the reality of the cost at the end. Come in with a budget and share it with the rep helping you. Ours helped us stay within that budget.
2️⃣You don’t need everything- This was for me. 😂 I had to check myself. Seeing beautiful homes on the gram can make you want everything, but remember they may not have your budget. So tell yourself to have several seats when you get out of hand.
3️⃣Create a Pinterest board - I came in knowing basically what I wanted because I already had my vision. I created kitchen, exterior, bedroom, flooring, and bathroom inspo. Often I would even show our rep my inspo and she would help me find something similar. Make your wish list!
4️⃣Request design center pricing in advance - Prior to our appt we got a list of pricing for some of the design center selections. This helped us get an idea of cost and prioritize.
5️⃣Price compare - If there are some upgrades you are on the fence about getting. Price how much it would cost you to have a contractor do it later. If the contractor is significantly cheaper. Save it for later. We decided to do our Wainscoting after we close. We also our changing out all lighting after closing since it was cheaper!
Building a home isn’t easy and it’s huge investment! If you have any other questions comment below so I can answer in upcoming post! #email@example.com#liketkit http://liketk.it/2KwwU
✨ How can you make the worst thing that ever happened to you, the BEST thing that ever happened to you? ✨ .
I used to hate my anxiety. I’d hate that it would hold me back from doing the things. I had created such a crappy story about it too. One that involved me being the victim and not having any power or control over this thing. .
Then a funny thing happened. .
I became obsessed with reading and learning everything I could about the mind, fear and 🧠 psychology to help me through my battle with this lil ol’ anxiety thing. .
And after years of studying this stuff, I became a bit of an expert on it. Then I started sharing my learnings with others and seeing them have these big mindset shifts as a result. 🤯 People who has been crippled by this stuff started seeing their situation in a whole new way. .
Now I get to help people with this stuff for a living through work I 💛 intensely. .
The thing I most used to hate ended up becoming the biggest gift. .
I invite you to reflect: What’s your story that’s holding you back? How can you flip that story? Because you get to write it how you want. So you might as well pick a good ending 😉 .
