With all fresh vegetables, an of cause, my favorite rice vermicelli noodle.
#harmonizacaofacial#harvard#boston#usa#milpeles
We brought back #jamaicanbeefpatty and #shrimproll from #nyc because, one, there’s something about New York Jamaican beef patties that are different and, two, I haven’t come across a single Chinese restaurant in #boston that sells shrimp egg rolls and #ducksauce . If anyone knows where one can procure a shrimp roll, I demand to know! 🦐🦐
This meal might seem unexciting, but when I travel, I enjoy eating things the locals have gotten used to eating because of their availability and may not even be aware of how special those items are until they leave and struggle to find them elsewhere. .
It’s like how I grew up in #stlouis living and breathing @steaknshake which, admittedly, doesn’t have the best food. People don’t travel far and wide to the Midwest to eat Steak ‘n Shake, but when you grow up eating it, you unknowingly become attached to the familiarity and homeyness of it. When I moved to Boston and had sudden hankerings for a Steak ‘n Shake #friscomelt and their super skinny fries, they were no where to be found, and that made #homesick . 🙇🏻♀️
Steve took a bite of the Jamaican beef patty and said it was the taste of his #childhood . Something so simple yet so #nostalgic . 😋
1. As nice as this was, I’m good with seeing no more snow till next winter.
2. Come yoga with me at The Giving Tree in Haverhill (right across from where farmers market is held) on Wednesday’s at 4:30pm. :-) The space is beautiful!
3. This summer join me on an adventure through @yoloadventureretreats via the White Water Wilderness Retreat (bbq, music, rafting, karaoke, yoga, bonefire....) This one is new and gonna be a blast! (Link in bio!) I’m also heading to Acadia in July with @yoloadventureretreats; last year’s was awesome, so come along!
Saturday: Completed 21 tough road miles with @randy_bernard and @bostonchildrens for our longest run leading up to the 2019 Boston Marathon! We started at the marathon starting line in Hopkinton, and ran all 21 miles on the actual course, finishing on top of Heartbreak Hill.
I hadn’t run for 2 full weeks leading up to yesterday... giving myself some rest after man camp turned into a cold I couldn’t seem to shake, and even yesterday I was hacking up a lung for most of the run. It felt good to move, but miles 16 and on hit me pretty hard.
Sunday: Got my sore legs out of bed at 0500 to be in Leominster for @randy_bernard’s Race for a Reason 5k, with the proceeds going to Randy’s Boston Children’s fundraising efforts. I didn’t run, but instead made sure there was @atomicoffeeroasters coffee for all racers and spectators, and was able to catch some photos of @randy_bernard and @enjoythethrive as they crossed the finish line.
This weekend not only reminded me that I’m running Boston in just 3 weeks, but it reminded me of “why” I’m running Boston in 3 weeks. It’s one thing to try and meet a fundraising number on paper, but it’s another to hear the stories from Children’s Hospital patients before our training run, see so many supporters out on the course, and see the amount of love and support in the building today for Randy and his family.
I’m looking forward to heading back to Hopkinton on April 15th, but for now, just looking forward to being back to full health this week, and regaining some movement in my right hip flexor 😅 #BostonMarathon2019
