Do you like to do cardio or do you hate it like me? .
.
For the majority of my fitness journey (8 years) I've done very minimal straight cardio. I've always played basketball as my main form of cardiovascular activity. 🏀
.
.
I just started adding some cardio in last year when I was prepping for my first men's physique competition. And am doing some at the moment in my current routine, as I try to beat last years physique. 😏 .
.
But several of my clients have lost substantial amounts of weight (20, 30, 50+ lbs) without doing 1 cardio session. 👊
.
.
And I mention that because many people genuinely think they NEED cardio to lose weight or body fat. .
.
But that couldn't be further from the truth. .
.
And if there's one thing I'd LOVE to do here, it's help someone avoid doing boring, unwanted cardio if they don't have to. 😂
.
.
Or if they simply don't have time to. (that 💩 is time consuming!)
.
.
Can doing cardio help you lose weight? Yea, for sure. .
.
It can help burn extra calories and create a calorie deficit to ultimately lose weight/body fat. .
.
However, it's definitely NOT required to do so. With proper nutrition and a well planned out strength training program, you can lose plenty of weight / body fat. .
.
Rather than trying to create a calorie deficit by doing hours of cardio each week, it's much simpler to create that deficit through a proven and sustainable nutrition schedule. .
.

  • I so did not want to go to the gym today but, I did and I am glad I went. Besides the #elliptical I also did shoulder and chest presses and then I hit the hot tub and I was done for today. #day3of5 going to the gym over with!! #fitnessmotivation #gym #exercise

After not running regularly for a year, this feels so nice.  Now it hurts, I’m slow, not where I was and have a long way to go - but to have this consistency is AWESOME!

  • Morning run if 5 (slow 🐢) miles got me to 101 for the month! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️ Still a few more days to add on but super happy I’m over 400 for the year (think I’m at 422 so far). After not running regularly for a year, this feels so nice. Now it hurts, I’m slow, not where I was and have a long way to go - but to have this consistency is AWESOME!

  • Kept is easy today to be on the safe side. 10 min warm up on the elliptical and then 3 miles on the treadmill. Stuck with an easier pace than normal and walked a little at each half mile. Thank you Strava for telling me my workout was easier than my normal effort lol. IT band didn't flare up today but the hip has been sore.

Called the PT that was recommended to me this morning and was able to get an appointment for tomorrow. Interested to hear what he has to say and hope that I'll be able to strengthen and manage these leg issues!
