  • When I started swimming a few months ago, I could barely swim the freestyle/crawl stoke 25 meters. My tight shoulders, back problems inefficient stroke, and general cluelessness made it all very difficult. Thankfully I have a partner who doesn’t believe in excuses and who has a drive to get things done. Her get things done list included learning how to swim in open water precisely because she was afraid of the water. I decided to join her for the ride and support her by pushing each other. It was good for our relationship to do something together and beneficial for me to add this skill in. We signed up for swim lessons earlier this year and by breaking the skill down into small parts it is starting to come together. The breast stroke has been an easy pick up for me and I have already progressed to swimming 1 mile in the open water. Last night I swam 300 meters nonstop using the freestyle/crawl stroke without stopping. This was huge for me. Previously, I would swim 25 or 50 meters freestyle and then switch back to breast stroke for 25 meters to get a rest and stop swallowing water 💦😂. Last night’s overall swim was a short one as the pool was closing but it left me with a great feeling nonetheless.
I should note that swimming has also been beneficial to my lifting by working my deep core muscles and enhancing my lower back and SI joint stability.

WE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF MORE THAN WE BELIEVE. You just have to pick a stretch goal and then get started. Work on your goal a little each day and you will progress towards it. My swimming goal is to complete a triathlon swimming freestyle for near the entire distance. I’m getting closer each swim. Do you have any stretch goals?

  • I used to LOVE the little oatmeal packets for breakfast!! The downside to those though, was that after about an hour, I’d start feeling hungry again. So the next day, I would eat 2 of them, an hour later, I was starting to feel hungry… wtf?!
.
⠀⠀
Well when I learned that my body needs protein with every meal to feel satisfied, it made a little more sense why I was hungry so soon after. Oats are a carb, carbs are an energy source. Protein takes longer for the body to digest, so without adding protein to my meal, my body just burned through the carbs and I would be hungry again before it was time for another meal.
.
⠀⠀
Eating an adequate amount of protein at EVERY meal (I aim for at least 20 g) ensures that I stay full until my next meal, so it helps to curb that snacky feeling in between, which is a huge help in sticking to my nutrition plan! It also keeps me in an anabolic state so that my body is burning fat and retaining lean muscle throughout the day, which is VERY important to my fat loss goals! .
⠀⠀
One of my favorite meals is still oatmeal, but now I make it a little differently! Now I mix about 1/2 c of oats with 1 scoop of my slow digesting protein powder, and some unsweetened almond milk! This simple change makes a WORLD of difference!! I stay full much longer, there’s enough protein to keep me anabolic, plus it helps me hit my protein goal! .
⠀⠀
Depending on the day, sometimes I’ll make overnight oats so I can just grab them and go, but they actually only take a few minutes to make in the morning! My very favorite flavors are cinnamon cookie batter and blueberry muffin!! They both take me back to my oatmeal packet days, but now I know since my oatmeal is packed with a high quality protein source, it’s helping me work toward my goals!
.

  • 1.🍑Prepare your skin
Before you apply a tanning spray, make sure that your skin can handle the formulation. Read the instructions carefully and then apply a small amount of the spray in your body and wait for any allergic reactions or discoloration. In this way you can check the quality of the tanning spray and you reduce the risk of hurting your skin.
It is best that you remove all the dead skin cells in your body so that the spray will be more effective. The reason behind is that tanning sprays usually “stick” to the outer layer of your skin. So if your dead skin cells are still in your body, they will be ones that gets tanned, and your tan will not last long. Aside from this, healthy skin cells are very receptive to the tannig sprays and would hold them longer. Scrub your whole body using a loofah or any other scrub and make sure that you exfoliate your whole body especially the exposed parts.
Aside from scrubbing your body, be sure to apply a moisturizer a few hours before you apply your tanning spray. This softens your skin and it becomes more receptive, therefore making your tan last longer and absorbing it better.
-
2.🍑Application strategies
Wear dark clothing because the spray sometimes discolors them. Aside from this, make sure that you have a pair of gloves that you can use to avoid discoloration in your hands. Although some prefer to use their hands to evenly apply the spray. Just be sure that you wash your hands right away after application to avoid further discoloration.
When you start spraying your body be sure to apply the tanning spray evenly. Prepare a towel or tissue to wipe off drips and make sure that you apply the spray in covered areas like the back of your ears to achieve and even color. -
3.🍑Final reminders
Make sure that you have evenly applied the spray, and make necessary adjustments if you find any discoloration. Stand still for about a minute to avoid dripping and uneven application. It is crucial that you do not move especially your joints since these areas can easily remove the application. Be sure to follow the instructions given in your kit and do not forget to apply a sun screen when you go out.
