  • Here’s a photo from that evening when we gathered mushrooms in the woods surrounding our tiny cabin. One basket contained the edible ones, the other one contained the pretty, but probably poisonous ones, - collected solely for photo purposes. 🍄

  • As the chilling winters of January take over, the sounds of Popti Party began to echo in Raigad district. The name Popti party is derived from the Popti leaves (Bhamburdi Shrubs) that grow in abundance during January and April. This dish is served with Papdi (Indian Beans) and marinated chicken. Its trademark smell and taste is an instant hit with the travellers.

  • Last week we had a visit from Imogen, Ran and Isabelle from Burlington School, they brought their harvest festival donation. 57.4kg of food. They loved having a tour of the Foodbank and asked lots of interesting questions. Thank you for your donations! #Barrowfoodbank #Harvestfestival #localsupport

  • I'd like to give a big F U to cancer 🖕We all know someone who has gone toe to toe with cancer, or is currently fighting that battle. That's why it was an easy decision when my old friend from college, Tyler, asked if I'd like to donate this years farmers trophy for The Central Michigan Cancer Project. Nothing better than good people coming together for a good cause. I had a lot of fun creating the design on this years farmers trophy and I had an even better time meeting some amazing people doing some amazing things at this years Harvest Festival. Cancer sucks. Plain and simple. One way or another, it effects everyone. The good news is there are people like my buddy Tyler, working their asses off to do something about it! There's been a lot of big improvements over recent years on ways patients can now fight back and pack their own punch. It's an exciting time to witness all these improvements in fighting back against cancer and I can't wait to see what's around the corner.....

  • One of my fav autumn traditions that I couldn’t wait to share with my son on moving back to the U.K. was the harvest festival. I have fond memories of childhood assemblies that focused on giving thanks for the bounty we have, and putting together baskets of food which were taken to school and later delivered to those less fortunate.

Our nursery is donating their harvest goodies to @sufranwlondon and JH couldn’t have been more excited this morning to show his teachers the jars of pasta sauce and tins he had brought with him.

Sufra Food Bank holds a special place in our hearts. It was and continues to be a much needed local initiative, started by my brother Mohammed Sadiq Mamdani (now director of @kijanakwanzatz ). The special moments in our lives (as per the Islamic tradition) have always been celebrated with Sufra including when @naddy.12 and I got married and the birth of our first child. This morning I got all teary eyed sharing this experience with JH. I hope we can always share and encourage his charitable endeavours 🤲

Do you have a favourite harvest memory?
