So it’s been quite a week, for me and for the health community, on the 28th of July was #worldhepatitisday2019 and then came the #worldbreastfeedingweek Which runs from the 1st - 7th of August.
I had such a great time raising awareness about both Viral Hepatitis and Breast Feeding, sharing some facts and answering some burning questions.
The show is called As E Be, and it is delivered in pidgin, I love that authenticity and the attention to the detail of effective delivery of the message. Thanks to @eavydee and the @afnradio for creating the avenue to continue to raise awareness about health and health related issues.
Thanks to all of you that tuned and called in. Remember Prevention is always Better than cure✨✨✨ Click on link in bio for the full video😁
PS Ignore my struggle with pidgin 😅

You guys, this book makes me so happy!
I absolutely love any sort of “self-help”,
meets “you-should-be-able-to-masturbate-just-like-males-can”, type books.
I got this book because it sounded like something I would love. Let me tell you, this author is so freaking funny and honest when it comes to talking about women’s health (and men’s too, and how they are similar/different).
For example, read this page. Whenever any of my non existent friends ask me for “sex/dating advice”, I tell them that EXPLORING IS SO IMPORTANT. If you don’t know what you love, how are you supposed explain it to another person?
If any of y’all ever want to talk about taboo type topics such as periods, masturbating, sex, hookups, etc. feel free to reach out💁🏼

Yes this giant tumor as big as a hand that is composed entirely of fat and is completely benign. Most people grow one of these things in the arm and they are small, soft little tumors under the skin. My mom has a couple (one of those things to gross out the grandkids with😂). They are actually the most common soft tissue tumor. It is more rare for them to be so large. When they start getting really big you start wondering 2 things.
1. Is this mass compressing on any vital structures causing other health problems?
2. Is this cancer?
There are very rare cases of lipomas being malignant or cancerous. A cancerous lipoma is called a liposarcoma. To check, we need to submit quite a few slides to the pathologist to be sure of every lipoma- even if grossly it looks normal. #iheartautopsy#mysterydiagnosis#pathology#disease#tumor#fat#fattytumor#lipoma#liposarcoma#surgery#healthed#science#medicine
The human body has so many holes to fill and in fact, there can be a lot of pleasure from filling them. But also lots of risk.
Anything that goes in the vagina or anus should NOT be sharp- this tissue is super sensitive to stimulation, tearing, and infection.. this goes for veggies, household items, and anything else your 12 year old self was curious about sticking in.
It shouldn't be blunt ended either - a tapered shape, like the top of a mushroom can make insertion more comfy
Both vaginal and anal canals have high absorption abilities and are vulnerable to strong chemicals and low quality materials. (more on this soon!)
Fun fact: Nothing can get lost in the vagina because the cervix (meaty tissue at the opening of the uterus) blocks the end of the vagina, anything inserted can be retreaved.
That's why toys like ben-wa balls, egg vibrators, pessaries, dilators, and menstrual products can be inserted in the vagina without worry - they can't be in there forever tho.
However, you CAN lose stuff in your anus. It's connected to yards of intenstines - hundreds of people are admitted into the ER yearly for "falling onto objects" and "getting them stuck" in their butt 🙄 - so how do we prevent these medical tragedies?
FLARED BASES. Make sure anything inserted anally has a wider base to prevent it from being sucked up by your booty hole.
Last but not least, dildos, butt plugs and other insertibles can also vibrate. For far too long, penetration has been the status quo.
When I mention vibrators and show off my collection, people look at me all confused- they expect them to be these large penis-like robots. However, a little internal buzz makes the traditional exciting (and when I say little, I mean it - size doesn't matter as much as people think).
Look to my stories these next few days as I'll be highlighting a new insertible I've been exploring! 🎉 And if you're brave, let me know what you've tried below!

As we approach the end of the semester, motivation levels may grow slimmer...this is totally normal and may be an indicator that it is time for you to take a mindful moment to regroup, settle your mind, and then approach your tasks with a renewed mindset! 😌 #mindfulmonday

To come off the state conference and learning at least 10 things means I've got my money's worth 😂
🗃️Finally got a glimpse of how to unpack the main stems of learning outcomes in the HPE curriculum. Guess there'll be some homework this summer 🌞
❤️Also learned off Dr Donna Barwood this wonderful assessment tool that is also a jigsaw. Each jigsaw piece corresponds to a healthy habit, and the student only picks up the pieces that represents the gd habit he/she practises before trying to piece them tgt to form the heart.
🌻How have you contributed to your heart health today?
#ACHPERWA19 Takeaway 9️⃣
🏋🏽♀️Taking the strengths-based approach towards #healtheducation can encourage students to take ownership of their own health. And teachers can learn so much more about them and build stronger bonds! •
🔎Ross Williams of Murdoch University takes us through various engaging group activities that we can start implementing in our classrooms. Definitely fulfills 3 of the 5 propositions for HPE: Strengths-based, Health literacy & Critical Inquiry:
➡️ Using stock images to stimulate discussions about what being healthy means to individuals.
➡️Using graphic organisers such as Placemats to pool common perceptions about a health topic to start a discussion.
➡️Choosing from a pool, 1 card that describes what you do to cope when you feel distress. An opportunity to learn about what distresses each individual and how they cope.
➡️Pooling experiences about healthy lifestyle, what we are doing today to contribute to our health and our plans for the next 2 months on the bulletin boards.
➡️Playing a game of Heads Up! with Fruit/Vegetable pictures. Inserting some exotic fruits makes the game more fun!
➡️Using the Canning Stock Route Challenge to create self-directed learning opportunities (download from https://tinyurl.com/y2elrj42)

How do you add positive experiences for your students who need it the most?
🧺My rendition of what my "Resilience Bucket" looks like, with yellow representing positive experiences ➕ Walking away from Dr Mandie Shean's concurrent session on Mental Wellbeing, I learnt a new method to help children gain strength from their positive experience by drawing from their Resilience Bucket (I think that was the name)
🤽🏻♂️For most children, they will have little difficulty 'picking out' wonderful memories to tide them through tough times. But for some, there will be little positive experiences or none to pick out of and I see it as my challenge to empathise with them and help them be aware of new positive experiences or create some with them to add to their "bucket"
❓How have you blended in resilience training explicitly in your classrooms? #achperwa#yellowbucket#resiliencebucket#mentalwellbeing#resilience#physed#healthed#includeinspireplay
Let's use this #MindfulnessMonday to appreciate all of the things we are grateful for -- whether it be family, friends or even just the upcoming break and a delicious Thanksgiving dinner! We hope your holiday is filled with gratitude, joy and lots of pumpkin pie 🥧🦃🌻
Really fascinating to give the children a shopping list and a grocery website to look through; working in pairs they had to make their selections whilst I listened in and asked questions ‘what made you choose that?’ being key ... HWB in our curriculum in Scotland is quite frankly fabulous if explored well .. I was fascinated by our discussion ... lots of reasons for choices, which we displayed and shall recap tomorrow and then in pairs the children will create their own product to sell on the website keeping in mind why we might choose to buy it ... key learning objective is I can talk about what affects my food choices #healthandwellbeing#hwb#cfe#firstlevel#healthed#foodeducation

Did you guys thinking I was joking? Here’s to my new journey, my next chapter! I love how God is always working. My co worker told me to schedule a wellness screening! Perfect timing because I made a conscious decision to start a new journey with healthy living and nutrition 😬
I started gaining weight at a young age after after my dad left. It was scary without him. My mom was always angry and violent. When she wasn’t around, all I did was eat. At the age of 8 I was left home alone with my younger brothers - one of which was a newborn. I’d eat to feel safe. Food and trauma do tie in together. For years I’ve worked on my mental health and now it’s time I learned about my body, nutrition and food!
Cheers to that! Let me know what you’re working on! Love to hear about your journey! 💕 #JesusLovesYou
