  • Before I head to Olinda this morning to do a weeding job (Yes, I even work in the rain, happily !), I thought I’d share the beauty of edibles going to seed ... can you guess what these plants are ? 😍🌸🍂

  • Carrots. Nature’s capsules of Vitamin A. •

They grow better in loose soil that is well-drained, so make a couple of rows and plant. •

Early in my gardening experience, I planted them in the holes of the cinder blocks that bordered my garden. They grew, but they were hard to get out because the soil wasn't loose enough. •

Live and learn! What’s your experience with growing carrots?

  • Swiss chards are so prolific. The plant behind the basket still looks full after I harvested what I need.
*
Sound on to hear the chards being sautéed with olive oil, dash of sea salt & pepper, and crushed coriander seeds.

How do you like to eat your Swiss chards?

  • Happy little #miningbee collecting pollen and showing me it’s cutest side😂. #evokingexposures .

What is there not to like about mining bees?! Absolutely nothing! They are amazing creatures🐝🖤💛🖤. Tiny little solitary beautiful docile insects. Fantastic pollinators, great little soil aerators, basically any real gardeners dream insect!! .
.
Well unfortunately for these tiny #beneficialinsects they face population decline(same as other beneficial pollinator insects). Breaks my heart that people would choose having the perfect “weed” free lawn, or perfect looking produce, over these little ones lives. .
.
The use of insecticides to kill the so called “bad insects” and the poisonous commercial sprays used to kill funguses etc, also kill the pollinators. That’s why I am against using poisons at all costs! I want to leave my children a world worth living in!! Please consider natural organic ways to garden. Weeds can be killed with boiling water, salt and pure vinegar. Bugs can be killed with many beneficial bugs. Praying mantis, lady bugs, lacewing larvae, and fly predators. .
.
Let’s give these guys a fighting chance! In turn they will pollinate your flowers, fruits and vegetables. .
