My self care is my wardrobe! I know that sounds frivolous, but it’s who I am. When it comes to my happiness, earrings, boots, jackets, lacy tops, leggings and shorts are top of the pecking order.
People always used to tell me that my earrings were “too big” and for awhile I believed them. But then I realised I came out of the womb obsessed with earrings and that was just who I am!
People will often tell you things about YOU that actually reflect their own insecurity. It’s taken me years to learn this, but it’s true. I had to learn it the hard way and suppressed parts of myself for a long time. But in the end that creates a splintered human. These days I wear my big earrings in professional photo shoots, in my live Facebook videos and at work. Coz, when I don’t I feel like an imposter.
I’m so much happier accepting that I’m a Naturopath, an earring obsessee, and a lover of wholefoods, electronic music, books, tropical islands, hot springs, baths, exercise and travelling. I can be all of those things in all of those areas! (Downside is I’m constantly leaving my earrings at the gym lol)

Know your oils and their smoking point! 🔥

First off, what is a “smoke point”? The smoke point is the point at which solids in the oil begin to burn and thus alter the flavor profile of the oil. It is unrelated to the temperature at which point an oil oxidised, but is nonetheless important to pay attention to when cooking or baking.
It is also a common misconception that you can’t sauté with olive oil. You definitely can but it would be best to use it at low to medium heats. At worst, the oil will neutralize, negating some of its health benefits but it won’t become toxic like the oxidative modification of oils like grape seed, corn, and soybean oil.
Below is a list of some of the good oils, benefits and heat toleration: • AVOCADO OIL - great for high heats, very neutral flavor, increases absorption of carotenoids.
• COCONUT OIL (virgin) - great for low to medium heats, great source of MCTs. The evidence on MCTs is equivocal but encouraging for cognitive support.
• WALNUT OIL - I would NOT use this to cook due to its preponderance of polyunsaturated fats. Great to use as a toping though.
• GHEE BUTTER - great for high heats, contains trace vitamin A, E & K.
• OLIVE OIL - great for low to medium heats, rich in polyphenols, great source of monounsaturated fat.
MINIMIZE the use of these oils:
• SOYBEAN OIL - shown in many studies to be highly inflammatory (due to high omega 6 saturation levels). Over 90% of soy is GMO = more pesticides.
• CANOLA OIL - uses a synthetic chemical extraction methods, bleaching, and deodorizing.
• HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OILS - high trans fat, inflammatory, impairs endothelial function, increase risk for cardiovascular disease

Sobrecoxa e pé de galinha assados; salada de alface, tomate e couve-flor; abóbora cozida e amassada com semente de abóbora torrada e salgada.
O pé de galinha é ótima fonte de colágeno. E vou te confessar que antes de começar no estilo de vida Low Carb, eu nunca havia comido pé de galinha, por nojo e achar que o sabor seria ruim. Depois que eu comecei low carb, meu paladar mudou e ao pesquisar sobre alimentos, resolvi abrir a mente para o novo e hoje amo pé de galinha bem torradinho e crocante.
PESO DOS ALIMENTOS E QUANTIDADE EM GRAMAS DE CARBOIDRATO LIQUIDO:
O frango / galinha não tem carboidrato, então, falarei dos outros itens, são eles:
55 gramas alface = 0,93 gramas carb líquido;
40 gramas tomate cereja = 1,07 gramas carb líquido;
99 gramas couve-flor = 2,75 gramas carb líquido;
78 gramas abóbora moranga = 4,37 gramas carb líquido;
20 gramas semente de abóbora = 0,67 gramas carb líquido.
Total de carb líquido ingerido hoje: 9,79 gramas.

Eu pesei a alimentação de ontem e de hoje somente pra mostrar aos iniciantes como é feita precisamente a ingestão pra quem faz cetogênica.

HE ATE IT!! "Noatmeal" paleo cookie success!
It was a series of unfortunate events that lead me to make cookies. You see, the tiny human has all these songs and books and shows with characters who snack on yummy yummy cookies. The subliminal messaging must have gotten to my husband and he came home last week with store bought oatmeal cookies. The tiny human saw them...and immediately knew what it was. So excited he was! A cookie in real life! (i realize now that this #pegan kitchen is a bit too sterile). He touched them, sang to them, but my picky eater would never eat them! I needn't worry about these gluten filled sins...
Until He took a bite..👀

And squealed with delight😣
I was mortified! 😰
But, I had to turn this around. I took a few bites (ugh) and studied the texture, the flavour.. I could make these. I scoured the internet for paleo "noatmeal cookie" recipes and went to work in the kitchen the next day.
These r absolutely delicious!! When u have a picky eater, the smallest things - even a cookie is a huge success. Can u imagine all the fun stuff mommy is about to hide in these cookies? Can u say zucchini, flaxseed, cauliflower...? 😬😬 It's all about getting him to safely enjoy new flavours and textures so that we can make more variety in his meals.

(FYI - i halved the recipe and made giant cookies to match the storebought size, hence the "small" yield)
PS --> Cysters - skip ALL the sugar to make these more compliant (the raisins r sweet enough). If you have insulin resistance i would 1/2 the raisins. Use your glucometer to check the load on your system 2 and 3 hrs post-treat.
Mine is arugula it has a great peppery flavor and is also known as rocket fuel. Eating a bowl of arugula can give you a lift like no other green.
Greens are great at cleansing the blood, lifting your spirit, and allow you to feel light. 🥗🥙

Tonight’s dinner was gf mac n’ cheese, roasted cauliflower and a side salad of raw zucchini, carrots, and tomatoes!! I cheated because the cheese wasn’t dairy free (sorry) but there are almond flour substitutes that work great as well!!

I generally like my meat "so rare a good vet could save it." BUT, there is a trade-off between deliciously raw muscle meat, and scrumptiously rendered fat. This was in the @sousvidesupreme at 130° for about four hours, mainly because it was sharing the bath with tomorrow's chuck roast. That's technically still rare... and this fat is amazing: #sousvide choices.
#BeefJerky Teil 2: Nachdem das mariniert Fleisch über 12 Stunden im Kühlschrank verbrachte, die einzelnen Stücke mit Küchenkrepp abgetupft und dann die 5 Etagen des Dörrautomaten locker belegt. Auf gut Glück nachgewürzt, die Temperatur auf 40°C bei 10 Stunden Laufzeit eingestellt und mit wachsender #Vorfreude auf das Ergebnis gewartet...
Hier noch einmal das Setup:

Saturday morning green eggs! 🍳🥦🌱 I’m always looking for new ways to incorporate green vegetables with my breakfast and this turned out amazing!
1 & 1/2 cup of peas, boiled, then strained
2 cups of spinach
4 Tbs coconut cream
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1/4 red onion
Salt and pepper
Blend up all of the ingredients until semi smooth, then place in a fry pan. Cook on low for 5 minutes. Make small wells in the green sauce and place 4 eggs in them. Sprinkle with chopped herbs (I used basil, mint and parsley) and cooked until eggs are done. Garnish with tomatoes, and sprouts, then serve with zucchini loaf! Enjoy 💚
