We had an unbelievably amazing time @spartanrace@spartan@nationals park for #spartannationalspark this morning. We got a lot of the neighborhood kids out & we all had a blast. Byron was 1st, Pierce was 2nd, Nolan, Fletcher, Jules, Grant & Desmond crushed. I pushed the whole time but I got to do a ton of burpees in the Elite wave as missed a few obstacles but think I am getting the hang of it & huge 🙏 @fullerrunsfar for getting me ready & to everyone that pushed me & cheered it was epically cool & excited to do @spartantrail with no obstacles 😉 & see everyone in Austin, TX next week. #running#trailrunning#aroo#relentless

More from Spartan Honors Series Stadion Race at Nationals Park.
I did miss my trail running, it just doesnt feel or sound as good when the feet are pounding concrete instead. But I could really get used to obstacles that are not wet and covered in slime and mud. I repaired my relationship with the z-wall and the rope, and reinforced my belief that the assault bike is the devil. 😂
A rare sighting of me at a #spartanstadion race in 2019. 🧐 I know Jerry built a monstrosity, but a million stairs still don’t qualify as a mountain... 🏟 Have fun at AT&T everyone! First time ever that my #fomo is only minimal. 😂 // #traillover
Happy Father's Day to all those Dads who are leading an active healthy lifestyle for their kids to follow. Kids need role models, protectors and supporters. Being a role model is on display 24/7, kids are constantly watching and taking mental notes. It's much easier when your winning and things are going good but be sure to show your kids what it looks like to have integrity in the midst of challenging situations and remind them of their worth when they experience failure. I've had a disappointing start to the year in racing but I tried to stay positive and include my kids in my Spartan training and racing and it seems to be turning around. #spartandad#spartan@spartanrace@spartan#spartanpro#spartankids@spartankidsrace@vjshoesusa@yancyculp#spartanrace#fathersday #spartannationalspark
Tackle every obstacle that stand in your way head on. No matter how tired you are, no matter how tough it may be, dig down deep inside and find the power to just keep pushing through. Before you know it, it’s all over and you wonder why you thought it was so hard. Obstacles don’t block your path, they are the path. If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere. Believe in yourself and all that your are. Know that there is something inside you that is great than any obstacle.
One step forward, it's just one step forward. Don't overwhelm yourself with thoughts of the future. By thinking about everything that "could be" you are missing the simple joys of this Current moment .
It's only one step forward, one thought at a time, one breath that will bring you through you to the next second, minute, hour, day. All that matters is one action, one thought, one simple moment.
It's time to drive back from Chicago with @wickedlmessner . We have 13 hours ahead of us. Great for goofiness, self reflection, deep conversations and OF COURSE karaoke 😜 .
Thank you to the @weareoscarmike Fam for putting us up this weekend. I'm so grateful that I know you guys and can be part of your family ❤️ keep on keeping on. #AlwaysMovingForward .
Peak a boo weekend, I see you! First weekend without having a race in about a month. I don’t know what to do with myself. Guess I’ll just train and go for a nice casual trail run. What do you do on an off weekend?

As I walk around throughout my day people look at me like I’m strange. I don’t care cause I still got that “winners high” (and yes, my grandson is finally home from the hospital) #godbless#spartannationalspark#spartan

So close to the Weekend that I can almost taste it!!! !
What's on your FUNgenda this weekend?? !
I picked up a new pair of @saucony running shoes, so going to take them for a spin (Freedom ISO feel "ISO good" hah).... .
Maybe, finally see the 'Captain Marvel' movie! !
And then I'm thinking about hitting up @tough_mudder Philadelphia .
As I lined up alongside some seriously intimidating competition Saturday, I could feel my confidence wavering. I felt like such a “mom” among the six packs in my heat. I thought maybe I’d keep my tank top on so no one saw the stretched skin from 5 babies! That voice of self doubt is harsh and can quickly convince you that you’re not good enough. As the official talked rules, I scanned the crowd for the face I needed to see. I found Steven in time to see his smile and hear him cheer me on and that’s all I needed! The doubt melted quickly and was replaced with confidence and the familiar thrill of the race that I love and a reminder of why I race. I didn’t make it even 3 min before the tank top came off and I tucked it into my bottoms all while laughing to myself about how silly I had been.
With a few days to reflect on this, I realized how easy it is for even the strongest of women to look around and feel less or not good enough. The world wants you to think that but don’t believe those lies.
I came home that night to hugs and kisses from those 5 babies who immediately swiped my race shirt (that’s all they wear to school 😆) and my medals to go hang in their room with the rest of them. They don’t see extra skin or varicose veins, they see their mom who they think is beautiful and amazing! Believe those little ones, not the world! So to all you women reading this post.....BE YOU because there is only one you and you are enough and more ❤️! Happy Mother’s Day a bit late! @spartanwomen@spartanrace@spartan#youareenough#beyou#breatheinconfidenceexhaledoubt#happymothersday#spartannationalspark#findyourwhy#lovethelifeyoulead
For the first time, I was able to warm up my muscles with ACTUAL HEAT using the Heat Therapy Pods and took off from the start line in peak performance condition and didn't need the first mile or so to "get in the zone" .
The medical grade compression of 20mmHG kept me running the ENTIRE RACE .
I thought I knew what "compression" was .
You HAVE to experience this .
I never felt my legs get heavy or experienced the pooling of lactic acid that give your muscles that "burning" feeling ...so I never had to slow down and walk and give my body a chance to catch up with my effort .
AND I COULD FEEL HOW STRONG MY EFFORT WAS THE ENTIRE WAY .
I was only 53 second off the podium and the closest I have ever been to one of my MOST favorite and inspiring racers, @jillheller
..(who, I'm not sure I will EVER catch ;) ) .
Afterwards, I was able to use the Ice Therapy Pods to immediately recover so I can avoid swelling and soreness, and that helped me get back out there for lap 2 and right back to the gym with no delay in my training schedule .
I am forever changed .
I am convinced that SnapBac is going to continue to give me an edge against my competitors, and if you are looking for that too, I suggest checking them out .
I for see the entire OCR community wearing them soon and with the talk of all the new designs and colors on the horizon (even an un-ripable design..SHHHH!!!), you should be very excited about what they are setting out to do for athletes like us .
God is good even when life is not. 8 months ago my world collapsed after being attacked by a 130lb dog. I was forced to rebuild myself from the ground up. After spending months regaining range of motion, balance and strength I was able to get back into training again. It was unfortunate that this happened to me. But I believe that God took this setback and used it to propel me into a stronger version of myself (physically & mentally). There were so many days I didn’t want to get out of bed, or should I say, off couch, since I couldn't use the stairs. It's so easy not to try. To wake up every morning and settle. Anyone can do that. We only get one life and I wasn't about to fill it with self pity or regret. Everyday I set a goal for myself. Whether it was trying to wiggle my toes, walk across the living room floor or leave my house without having an anxiety attack, I showed up for myself and push through the discomfort. Every week my goals got bigger until I could set my sites on the biggest goal of all, the @spartan NJ Tri-State Beast. It was a hard journey but the work finally paid off. Not only did I podium my AG that day but I’ve taken a podium at 2 other Spartan Races in addition to running a 50k these past 5 weeks. This is proof that it's ok to start small. All you have to do is wake up every morning and do one thing that will make you better then yesterday. Slowly but surely those small things will add up to big things, giving you a sense of pride that you never would of had felt if you decided to settle. #spartannationalspark #keepfighting #ocr#spartanwomen#girlstrong#athlete#spartan#SpartanSGX#LiveSpartan@mark_neilan @excelfitnesscenter@f4_ocr

#tbt to last Saturday to when I ran my #spartan . My race pictures are up! Most of them are me climbing stairs (because let's face it 90% of that run was stairs) but I love this shot.
Have I mentioned how awesome racing at Nats Park was? I was either gasping for air or sporting a big ol grin. Glad to have this picture though, not sure a shot has actually captured how my heart feels out on a course like this one. Sure, it's a sandbag carry over 6 flights of stairs, but you embrace the suck and smile back at the tough times!
Official race photos from Saturday. My kid crushed me in the running (I hate running) but I had to help him out in some of the strength stuff. All in all, we made a good team, he didn’t complain, and he turned out to be a pretty good race partner!!
