  • I want to congratulate client Marina @it.is.marina on her 1 year fitness journey anniversary. Hard work pays off and she exemplifies that. .

Here Marina is executing two movements that combine movement types. The first: Dumbbell Thruster, is a squat and push press combination. The second: Elbow Plank Renegade Row is a core and pull/row combination. .

As a client advances the need for volume increase as a means of progressive over load becomes more difficult to manipulate as we only train for one hour together. Training density, or the ability to do more work in less time becomes very important. Combo exercises like this are a great way to address this need with out simply "going heavier".

Note that Marina first needed to display effective movement patterns in the individual squat, press, Scapular retraction, and plank before combining these. These movements should only be used with clients that have the necessary foundation, coordination, and strength to do so.
