Unless you have a friend that hikes in sandals (@followthesunart) to hold your hand on river crossings, you often need to hop rocks, logs, save yourself from unseen tree roots etc. while #backpacking ! Here are some balance & strength exercises to reduce your risk of wet socks and a broken ankle or ego!
Video 1: weighted vest step ups and slow lower with #airex pad. Difficulty is keeping your knee from caving in and maintaining arch strength in the foot. Step up with a high knee and flexed foot. 60-90sec on 20 sec off each leg x 3-4 rounds.
Video 2: Airex toe raises- try and keep your ankles from flaring out to the side x 20
Video 3: same thing on one foot 15 each leg
Video 4: 360 balance 10 each direction
Video 5: 360 balance fail 😂
All should be done without shoes for optimal foot strength.
All can also be done sans airex pad.
