Perfect foodie day and we also had a lovely walk through Hyde Park 💗 Veganism is not restrictive at all, I’ve eaten all of the food I wanted today and no animals had to be slaughtered or harmed. In this day and age there is just no need. Are your taste buds more important than an animals life? 😔

How to make a power-packed salad:
Start with a base of romaine, arugula or baby leaf salad. Then add in:
🍃Plant protein: ¼ to ½ cup chickpeas, kidney beans, black beans, tempeh or tofu
🍃Raw or steamed veggies: 🥕, bell peppers, celery, 🥒, 🍅, spinach, 🥦, or sprouts
🍃Healthy fats: 🥑, olives, nuts, seeds
🍃 Fresh or dried fruit: 🍎, 🍐🍓, dried cranberries, raisins or sultanas
🍃Grains or starchy vegetables: ½ cup cooked quinoa, brown rice, 🍠, 🥔
Mix the whole lot up and dress with a yummy vinaigrette 😊
Kept lunch simple today. I made a Chickpea and sweetcorn salad and stuffed it in pitta bread. The recipe for my potato cakes is now on my blog, I’ll link it in my stories 💙

Are you a creature of habit 🤔or do you need variety? I’m definitely a creature of habit and generally I like to eat the same meals over and over
1 Because I know roughly how many calories and macros are in it and that suits how I want to eat without calculating because personally I can’t be bothered 2 Because I actually really enjoy it! So for me a day on my plate looks like Overnight oats for breakfast some fruit and crackers and hommous as a snack then this beautiful Buddha bowl with all the vegetables needed to pack my meal full of nutrient dense food such a broccoli, red cabbage, sauerkraut and my favourite @organicvillagefood chickpea tempeh ❤️which is a great source of plant protein so if you are looking a substituting out animal protein it’s a great option .
AFD - such a foreign acronym in my world but I’m trying to have one today (“alcohol free day” for those who don’t know!)...thought I’d give myself an extra challenge and try to do it on a Friday 🙄 It is actually going to be much easier than it sounds because my secret little weapon is @seedlipdrinks non alcoholic gin! #ad I recently visited the newly refurbished @wholefoodsuk store in Clapham Junction to check it out and I couldn’t help but devour this pizza slice as soon as I walked by their new pizza bar. I also got myself a delish latte from the new Allegro coffee bar to keep me sane after a looooong day and discovered their specialty section. It has a huge variety of wines, sprits, CHEESE and charcuterie. I obviously got myself some cheese to take home 🧀 🙈 You guys should come and explore! This dinner seriously took me five minutes to make and when you have not much it is fridge it’s an even better accomplishment ❤️🙌🏼🙏 crumbled up the @organicvillagefood tempeh on rice with sunflower seeds a salad and some broccoli just what I needed after a hard session tonight...never miss a Monday even if you have to go later in the evening get it done! Sets the tone for your whole week 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

I use the shampoo/conditioner and the conditioning mask occasionally- then the leave in conditioner.
Next day, I use the spray to de tangle, and more leave in conditioner. But I also got the serum to try this time, which I’m very excited about 😊.
A Plastic free veg aisle is my favourite 🥬🥦🌽🌶🥒🥔🍠🥕so wish that there was a @wholefoodsuk near me, it’s literally heaven inside.

Most people often place foods into "good" and "bad" categories. The media and diet culture are notorious for hyping up the idea that some foods are good and some are bad. ❌✅ But no foods are inherently bad or good, it’s not that black and white‼️
Problems with Good/Bad Food Categories
1️⃣ Demonises certain foods and encourages an unhealthy relationship with food. 👿
2️⃣ Encourages over restriction which can lead to binging.
3️⃣ Neglects the pleasure and mental satisfaction certain foods provide. 🥰
4️⃣ Too much of anything is not good for you, either physically and/or mentally. Variety is the spice of life.
A better approach it consider foods on spectrum from nutrient dense foods to calorie dense foods.
Nutrient dense foods tend to be lower calories, higher in micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, fibre) and higher volume. Think whole unprocessed foods, close to their natural state. 🍎🥦🥔🍗🥚🥒🍌🥗
Calorie dense foods are higher in calories, lower in micronutrients and lower in volume. Think processed foods, with multiple combined ingredients and often added sugar, fat or salt. 🍔🍟🍕🍦🍫🍩🍰🌭
The majority of your diet should consist of nutrient dense, filling foods that appropriately fuel your body and provide essential nutrients, without excess calories. Calorie dense foods should make up a much smaller proportion your diet, eat these in moderation but enjoy them, don't feel guilty!
As a GP regularly see the negative effects of a nutrient poor, calorie dense diet, in the shape of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease amongst a few. 🤧🤒🤕🥴
I try to follow the 80/20 rule - 80% nutrient dense foods, 20% calorie dense foods. Sometimes the balances alters ⚖️ but generally this is a good guideline that I would recommend. 👍🏾👍🏾 Eating consistently in this manner as helped me to achieve my own personal goals but also means I am not overly restricted and still have a life!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

A whole-foods, plant-based diet is a way of eating that celebrates plant foods and cuts out unhealthy items like animal products, added sugars and refined grains. The Cheese Slice from @wholefoodsuk
Pay £3.50 to pick your own slice... So I went for the ugly one with the tomato growth, it had a bit of character. Despite the deformities, this is a solid slice. The tomato sauce had a nice sweetness and they definitely weren't shy with the cheese. There's one thing holding this pizza back though... the base is way too floppy! Not even the classic "New York Fold" could support this wet fish. The cheese wanted to escape the slice as soon as I picked it up. If this issue can be addressed then I'd be tempted to award it a 4/5
