“Life is a series of moments, many of which we never notice as they pass us by. While there is much to be said for being mindful in a given moment, there is also beauty in the loss of self within each little fragment of time, abandonment of the burden to remember. Letting go of the responsibility to make memories and to rather just be.” - @brainardcarey really enjoyed contemplating these words and connected the thoughts directly to my process. Where I start with a memory of a place or a photograph or sketch, and then at some point in time in the newly developing life of the painting I abandon the memory all together and just let the piece evolve on its own accord. “An Understatement” 18x24 inches now on display and available at @thejoinery downtown through December.

The countdown to my website launch is on! In just ✨SIX✨ days, I am launching that puppy out into the real world. And with that launch, I am releasing my whole secret project; the Atmospheric Collection.
These pieces explore the expansiveness of our sky; its colours, forms, movement and events. The fact that the sky under which I stand is the same sky that covers you; wherever you find yourself. The inspiration I find in lunar events, sunrises and clouds is never-ending, and I needed to capture these feelings on canvas. (Pictured is "Waning Moon", 8x10 on unstretched canvas).
Middle-of-the-day, autumnal light casting striking botanical shadows over these new little trial pieces 🌞 working on something special 🌝 (re-posting this because yesterday’s pictures were blurry and my inner perfectionist was unsatisfied😅)
