Azaan sat in an original baby swing for the first time and as you can tell by his face he loved it ! I have never really taken Azaan to an outdoor play area before as its not accessible or safe for him. I wish there were adapted play parks for children with mobility issues, cerebral palsy and children who are wheelchair bound but we make use of what we can! Azaan went on a swing , the slide , a roundabout and a rocking motorbike! I had to hold him up of course but he was very happy to be able to play with his brother at a park, to be able to experience normal childhood with what we can! As Azaan has very low muscle tone and his spine cannot support his body it’s difficult to be able to put him into normal child based play equipment but he loves the swinging, rocking and swaying motion! Oh and these Easter holidays have been the first holiday and half term where azaan hadn’t needed an A&E trip to the hospital or an admission alhumdulilah, Yay azaan!😊 #lowmuscletone#hypotonia#cerebralpalsy#wheelchair#alhumdulilah#outdoorplay#accessible#inclusion#joubertsyndrome#disability#curvedspine#swaying#swing#scoliosis#mobility#immobile#thepark

So that visually impaired & other disabled people can enjoy your insta posts this is how you add “Alt Text”. If you’ve used it on twitter it’s very similar!
1. Before you share click “advanced settings”
2. Under “accessibility” click on Alt Text
3. Compose your image description. It doesn’t have to be an essay. Just capture the main features of the image. Remember the context! If your post is about food, describe the food, if the post is about fashion describe the clothes!
4. Don’t worry if you forget. You can always edit later on & there is a quick short cut to do it!
5. And / or add your image description to the bottom of your post. #visuallyimpaired#a11y#accessible#AltText#imagedescription

Sometimes you can visit a place and it can have ample disability parking spaces, a great lift to get you to the entrance like this but it doesn’t matter when you’re in a wheelchair if you buy the tickets as soon as they’re available or last minute, you’re always going to be sitting at the back of the auditorium normally near the sound booth guy. Like an afterthought. Always a little disappointed by the designer of the HOTA.
Useful information for any of you who love visiting London. Travelling across London is very easy by underground, overground or by London buses. Another great way of getting round London is by the iconic Black taxis. You can hail these taxis on the street of London when the yellow TAXI sign is on. In fact, only taxis (black cabs) can be stopped by customers and can pick up off the street. They can also be booked ahead by calling them. What I liked about these taxis is that all of them have ramps so accessible for wheelchair users. #london#tourists#travel#accessible -travel

Another beautiful day beside the lake here in #NorthDevon , we hope everyone has been enjoying a great weekend like we have!
Proyecto de adaptación de espacios públicos de nuestro programa @idinea.la_nostra_veu . Gracias a @arasaac por el maravilloso trabajo que hacen y por facilitar la vida de las personas que están dentro del espectro, y las que no. 💙
I’ve recently sat quietly while a specialist in front of me explains to a medical student that ‘the patient’ (Harrison) displays a very aggressive form of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He went on to highlight swayed walking style, how his hips sway his spine inwards, his facial puffiness from steroids and a few other effects of his condition.
I use to deny students in the room when asked. It felt like Harrison was medical amazement for them to gawk at. Now, depending on who asks, I will allow them in. If it helps Harrison and others now or later than there is a benefit.
Although I felt sick as they talked about all the negatives of my little boy I didn’t tear up. I zoned out though but still listened.
Afterwards all he wanted was for me to drive down the car park ramps like we were on a log ride. All I heard from the back seat was ‘Wheee’ and ‘Splash!’ #fuduchenne

This is a raw video of how I move around when I’m not on my stool or in my chair, it’s scary for people to see for some reason, I don’t want people to think I’m weak or incapable, I’m not, I’m strong and extremely independent. I would be completely bed bound without my mobility aids. I use just a small wheeled stool to get around the house, I pull myself around using grab rails but when I want to watch a movie with my mum in her room this is what I have to do, her room and my brothers room is up 3 steps...my stool, my wheelchair, stair lift , bath chair, ramps and grab rails are not something I’m ashamed of, they give me more freedom and independence. Without them I would have 0 independence. Although I have these things this house is not accessible or appropriate for me, I can’t get myself a glass of water because I can’t get into the kitchen, I can’t get into the bath without being in pain and in danger of falling, my room isn’t big enough for me to move around in, but without the mobility aids I have I would have nothing, I’d be stuck in bed 24/7 and that scares me so I love my mobility aids, I’m thankful for them and the freedom they give me! #disabilityawareness#disabled#crpsawareness#crps#chronicillness#chronicpain#accessible#wheelchair#mobilityaid

I spent the afternoon with Emily, her lil human, and Wally at Chad Erickson Park. Then Wally and I went up to the Haas Tract and walked the spring fed creek searching for small treasures. What wonderful spring surprises!
The green moss popped on the brown background. I found a cluster of Scarlet Cups.
