Before the sun had risen, my daughter and I sit out for a special before school daddy/daughter breakfast. It was clear, and the sun was still waiting to rise above the mountains. On the way to our favorite breakfast café, we stopped by a nearby farm field to enjoy the beauty in stillness that surrounded us. And in the midst of a busy world it is a good thing to be quiet and stand with your daughter and watch the day break. .
Did I paint this for you?

I’m still really only working on gift commissions that I can’t show yet (plus packing, shipping etc) so here’s another top 9 post from 2019. This past summer I did a few different series of waves painted on unprimed birch panels. This one was a favorite of mine, and apparently yours too! 🌊
“Turnip tears” acrylic on canvas from 2016. Did anyone else find it so sad that turnip head was cursed to look like a scarecrow until he had true loves kiss, and then Sophie kisses him and his curse is broken, BUT Sophie is in love with Howl? and Sophie and Howl end up together and turnip head literally lost his “true love”. #stidioghibli#howlsmovingcastle#acrylicpainting#marianamoralesart#turniphead

Well here it is, my traveling art studio for the next four months ! Starting New Year’s Eve Randy and I go off on an adventure. Israel, Thailand, Cambodia, morocco, Spain? Definitely France, maybe even Turkey! We get back May 1. Thanks to our friend Deb who is staying at our house and watching our dogs! Randy retires from 30+ years of acupuncture next week and this is the celebration! Do it while you’re breathing!!!! I will post my travels and my artwork along the way. #carolconnettstudio#travelingartstudio#bigadventure#acrylicpainting#surrealism#stradaeasel
Christmas isn’t complete without a “Debbie Downer” Post. Right?
This morning, I opened the door for an elderly lady and a man pushed his way through both of us with a grumpy face. She told me she loved me. Then I had to walk into a big box store. Yikes. I thought Christmas was supposed to be all Ho Ho Ho and Hee Hee Hee and fun and stuff? Today was not fun. Well, I did connect with a toddler with a sticky face at lunch. My highlight. Is anyone else avoiding stores until ah, um, Spring? 🌱
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
stop wasting money on wrinkle cream. It doesn’t work. Smiling works. Being happy and friendly works. If you feel forced to enjoy this holiday by spending money, don’t! Take a walk and forage some greens. Make your self happy. Cut the evergreen branches off the neighbors tree that is hanging over into your yard. Call it good.
I painted Starry night by Vincent van Gogh on canvas bag! Bought the bag from a thrift store for 6 dollars; I'd say it was well worth it! I used acrylics mixed with paint medium.
Thanks to @carsonsimunkovic for being my model
I woke up this morning to my birthday being welcomed with a very achy body and sore throat (on a Friday the 13th, none the less) I spent most of yesterday painting this piece out of frustration with myself when I attempted another painting I was not satisfied with. My dining room table is very shiny and reflective so I thought I’d give it a go. Lastly, a photo series of:
-me at the NYC MOMA with @mostlynonsence , me at 2 years old dancing on the front porch area of this house I used to live in, and finally, being taken by the views of my home. I feel better already out here.
