Emotions are major internal causes of disease in TCM. Especially if they are so powerful that it overwhelms you or is not controlled over a long period of time.
.
That’s because excessive emotional activity may cause severe Yin & Yang imbalance and blockage of Qi & Blood which affects the organs.
.
✏️Note: Overjoy refers to agitation or crazy over-excitement.

  • A C U P U N C T U R E Day!! Some people squirm at the thought of Acupuncture and the concept of needles being poked into the skin but I find this ancient holistic therapy so relaxing. Acupuncture has been known for its health benefits for many years and I am a big fan!!

  • I was 35 when I got married and 36 when we started trying for a baby. I asked David when we were engaged if he thought I should get our fertility tested so that if we needed to get 👏 on 👏 the ball 👏, we could. .

As a fertility specialist, I geek out on labs/data and usually think more info equals more power. But. We decided against it. Why? Imagine if I had been told my numbers were off and I was labeled “infertile”. Oh.my.lordy. I would have felt discouraged, disempowered, and freaked out. It might have even hurt my fertility outcomes.

Studies show that women with low AMH values have the same rates of pregnancy as women with normal AMH values after 12 months of trying. Just one example of how women who may be told they’re “infertile” are still, in fact, fertile. .

I think it’s harmful to tell women they are “infertile” or have “unexplained infertility” when they can still get pregnant and have a baby. Might take a little longer. Might be a little harder. Might need some holistic &/or medical support. I believe our bodies and minds are listening to everything we think, and are affected by it. How dare anyone tell a woman they are infertile when they are not. Can we please change the language around this? .

If you have the required organs, eggs and sperm, aren’t in menopause, then I believe you are fertile my dear. Even if your period is missing or irregular - we can change that! Even if you have low egg quality or ovarian function. Even if you have low sperm parameters. You are not infertile. Mayyyybe sub-fertile. But not infertile. .

It’s national infertility awareness week. I’m all for raising awareness breaking down the stigma around fertility struggles. My problem is with the word “infertility”. I try to never use this word. It’s unhelpful, wildly inaccurate the vast majority of the time, and I believe it’s damaging. .

What I want people to know is 1 in 8 couples struggle with fertility. Half the time it’s due to male factors. Half the time due to female factors. So please be careful about your assumptions. I want people to know this is common. I want women to not assume all the pressure and blame. 👉 And I want people to know there is hope 👈

  • shiny by Serenity NEVER uses isolate. We believe using the whole plant distillation for full benefit. Did you know products formulated with isolate perform close to placebo mark for many of the conditions commonly advertised for CBD use? Cannabinoids act synergistically; receptor binding is greatly increased when multiple cannabinoids are present.

  • Today’s Point of the Day is a point combination called the Lower 3 Emperors: Tian Huang (Heavenly Emperor), Di Huang (Earthly Emperor) and Ren Huang (Human Emperor). These 3 points are used together for kidney related pathologies, urinary conditions, gynecological problems, bone pains, fatigue, dizziness and gastrointestinal symptoms.

  • The Rituals of Medicine.
When we are sick, we are usually scared. Or in pain. And those things more than almost anything else make us yearn for certainty, for reassurance. Of course top notch medical care is what is most reassuring. And sometimes that involves cutting edge medicine and technology. And sometimes it involves fire and needles and herbs and a sense of calm and a feeling of connection. I'm an acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist, trained in the US & in China. And one of the many things I love about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is its thousands of years of history and tradition. Healing has many rituals, from the symbol of the white doctor’s coat which invokes to most a sense of trust, but also often a feeling of not being in control or the situation, and therefore a feeling of stress. To the symbolism of the herbalist's apothecary, or acupuncturist's office with Chinese art, feng shui and soothing music. The tools of my trade all feel like rituals to me - from reading pulses and looking at tongues, to lighting fire and swirling it around glass cups I then quickly put on a patient's back to perform "cupping", to the water buffalo horn or jade "gua sha" tool I use to clear congested blood and qi and soothe muscles or get rid of colds, to the needles themselves, each one placed in a very specific location to do a very specific job. And so when people enter my office and smell incense and lay on a warm table and receive their treatment, I think they love the ancient ritual of it all, and also the empowerment that no matter what they are facing, there is always something they can do to help themselves heal. The ritual of traditional medicine is fire and glass and herbs and needles. But it is also possibilities. And hope. And connection. • Most of us go throughout our day unaware of the harmful chemicals and toxins that are in our very own home. We have a general awareness of the dangers of the obvious chemicals that may affect our health. We know the importance of eating clean and general wellness, but often we have no idea what is in the products we keep underneath our kitchen sink and in our bathroom cabinets.
•
Once upon a time our homes were not laden with harmful chemicals and toxins. But now, if we aren’t intentionally making choices to detox our homes, these ingredients will find their way into our homes.
•
Did you know:
😳The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) is a United States law, passed by the United States Congress in 1976 and administered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, that regulates the introduction of new or already existing chemicals. This grandfathered in approximately 65-100K chemicals currently on the market today. 65-100K Chemicals! Blech!
😳Of the chemicals tested, toxic labeling is only required if 50% or more of the animals tested with the chemical die.
😳Under the TSCA, manufacturers are protected by trade secret laws that allow them to keep their ingredient list a secret.
😳To date, the EU has banned 1300 chemicals in cosmetics; the FDA in the United States has banned only 11.
😳Nearly 400 products sold in the United States such as Crest Whitestrips and Neutrogena daily face cream, contain chemicals banned in Japan, Canada, and the EU.
😳”Of the 70k chemicals being used commercially in this country, the EPA considers 65,000 of them to be potentially, if not definitely hazardous to your health.” -90 days to a better you by Dr Thomas Ree.

Makes you feel all warm & fuzzy and protected, right?! We’d say NO!

Are you ready to make some changes but aren’t sure where to start?

  • I cannot wait for my delivery to come tomorrow. Thai massage has been so popular with my clients- it’s THE ultimate relaxation massage treatment. I’ve ordered a mix of lavender, chamomile and rose filled poultices. 💞 Full body incl scalp and balancing reflex massage. £25 for 1.5 hours.

Thai herbal massage has been practiced for hundreds of years and involves the use of herb infused muslin compresses to stimulate and detoxify the body.
Herbal massage boosts emotional well-being while soothing aching muscles and stiff joints. Sticking to traditional techniques, a muslin cloth is infused with herbs and spices and then steamed to release their medicinal properties.
The hot compresses are massaged over the body, creating a series of circular motions to aid the release of toxins and penetrate heat into the tissues.
Herbal Compress Massage is well-known for its relaxation qualities, but this flower-bursting pick-me-up can also improve blood circulation and promote cell growth. As the heat of the muslin cloth warms the skin, blood vessels across the body begin to dilate which kickstarts the efficiency of different internal organs. Herbs used in the compress can do different things for different parts of the body: lemongrass and kaffir lime boosts immune system, turmeric contains anti-inflammatories and tamarind can improve skin condition. #massagetherapy #massage #massagetherapist #wellness #spa #relax #health #selfcare #relaxation #sportsmassage #fitness #therapy #beauty #skincare #love #deeptissuemassage #chiropractic #yoga #cupping #aromatherapy #body #swedishmassage #acupuncture #physicaltherapy #healing #painrelief #physiotherapy #chiropractor #cuppingtherapy #bhfyp
