🇨🇦 This place has a very special place in our heart. 💚 We loved living here!
Now it's time for us to think ahead again. What do we want for our future? The rest of 2019 we'll spend in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and we're very excited to leave in 2020! Where to? Well we have some ideas and it's going to take time but we believe it'll work out great for us. We'll keep you posted!
*Make sure to SWIPE* 😍
Some fun facts about these chimneys & cave homes:
- These rocks are a result of a geologic process that began when volcanic eruptions rained ash down upon the lake that was once here. The combo hardened into tuff, which is a porous rock, and that got covered by a thick layer of basalt. Then erosion left all these awesome formations behind!
- Cappadocia was a mega city and had many advanced communities. Loads of the structures we explored had separate bedrooms, bathrooms, feeding areas for cattle and dugouts for candles.
- Cappadocia is still considered an Open Air Museum, meaning you can go into these places, but LEAVE NO TRACE.
- Inside the rocks there is a consistent temperature, so regardless of scorching summers and snowy winters, the people were able to stay comfortable inside.
So when are you gonna visit? 😉
I came to Trafalgar Square for a relaxing sunset evening and instead got these teenage boys that you see in the middle of the square, blasting their music.....and it made my night even better.
They were playing up beat music on their small speaker while they all danced. They made it a game, like follow the leader. One would stand in front of the group and dance while the others had to free style with the same type of moves the leader was using. Then they would call on one of their friends every couple minutes to be the new leader. They were smiling, and laughing, and encouraging each other the entire time. It was infectious. Everyone’s eyes were drawn to them. Including a little boy who was about 3 years old who wanted to be a part of their dancing so bad. The teens opened their circle to let him in and began focusing their dancing around the little boy. That little guy’s face was so lit up and happy that you could feel it in your heart.
It was amazing to see this little performance at sunset. They didn’t do it for money or for an audience, they did it just to dance and be happy with their friends. With all of the choices they could have made that night, they chose to dance and share smiles and laughter. I thought that was so sweet. 💕
After moving, starting work, and settling into our home; finally had a chance to get out and explore our new backyard with Jared and @hollyrae_18 ! It is such a pretty area and I’m so excited to be living in the Springs!

Super proud of my wife, who's uncomfortable on steep snow and not a huge fan of early wakeups, but pushed herself on both accounts yesterday. We didn't quite make the summit, but I think we could have if we didn't have a hard turnaround time in place.
Conditions: Temp was 35 when we reached the lake, and snow was soft though supportive. Was getting softer and seeing tiny rollerballs by 9 on the north facing headwall when we turned around.
