Begin from same side knee hook, wrap the fabric around your waist from front to back (same as a regular single star only you skip wrapping your thigh. By not wrapping your thigh it makes the drop open). After you've wrapped, grab the tail with your bottom hand & reach it overhead. Grab the fabric around your waist with your opposite hand - thumb pointing down. 
To ensure you don't get stuck in your open star, glue your bottom arm towards your bottom ear. This keeps the tail far enough away from your body as you roll into your final position. This will also prevent the tail from wrapping around your neck, yikes!

Keep the wrap around your waist slightly loose to ensure you can get your thumb under the fabric to maintain a tight, safe grip. Also, make sure the wrap isn't near your ribcage. 
Keep your top arm bent at 90 degrees as you roll into your landing position. Keeping the arm bent can act as an additional safety because your flexed bicep will intercept the fabric as you land. Keeping the arm straight at the end could result in a shoulder injury as it will take the impact in the shoulder & not the armpit. 
Ensure your top knee does not turn down; it will cause your open star to be jerky! 
Beginners often try  to "walk it down," when scared to make it easier when it fact, it makes it harder! 
Instead, ‘toe’ the pole with your top foot as you use your obliques to crunch your torso upward. This will put you in the ideal body position to roll smoothly! 
For a more adv. option, try initiating the drop from a hooked knee, skipping the toeing position. 
Your final leg shape is up to you!

Сегодня  вместе  с  Анной Карельской @annakarelskaya продолжаем разбирать элементы на полотнах!

❤ Ставим лайк и смотрим видео❤

Сегодня разберём вариацию выпада в «крест»:
⠀
✅ Делаем ДВОЙНОЙ крест за спиной в положении вниз головой (можно использовать выход из положения «журавль», как показано на видео).
⠀
✅ На каждую ногу накидываем «Хвосты» полотен.
✅ Ноги уводим вовнутрь между полотен. ⠀
✅ Делаем замах корпусом снизу вверх.
✅ Руки ведём между полотен вместе. ⠀
✅ Выходим в положение «широкая складка».
✅ Продолжаем движение за корпусом вниз и беремся за «хвосты» полотен. ⠀
✅ Руки разводим широко, так чтобы полотно оказались под мышками, крепко удерживаем полотна.
✅ Для схода, встаём на оба полотна, руки уводим наверх через сторону и аккуратно сходим вниз. ⠀

  • Still learning to trust this wrap and how far I can lean into it.  My splits are actually really solid and straight, but for some reason when I recorded my upcoming performance sequence today I had a huge sense of vertigo and felt like my wraps were going to fall off and drop me the fifteen feet to the floor.

Some days are just like that in aerial.  Take a trick you totally rock, and then it haves a few moments of feeling untrustworthy... Relying on that instinct is important for an Aerialist.  It's what keeps you from dying - and that's zero percent dramatization.
.
The longer I lift and prep for stage, the more correlations I find between bikini competition and aerial performance.  Maybe I'll make notes for a future post.

What's your favorite type of circus trick?  Splits are always a fan favorite!
