  • Poderia ser minha casinha de praia, mas é um charmoso restaurante até o qual atravessamos de barquinho e comemos uma comida deliciosa com um visual de tirar o fôlego!

  • One of my top reads from September was @trevornoah’s #BornACrime. Having followed Trevor’s journey and work since 2011, I was obviously excited to read his book and it did not disappoint. Review below 🌱💫 #bornacrimebytrevornoah #bookreview #bookrecommendation #bookstagram #african #southafrica #trevornoah .
~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ What a story!

I first encountered Trevor back in 2011 before he got big and had his breakout...he was a revelation back then with his charming wit and insightful social commentary. It was comedy with a soul and it endeared him to me quickly.

I’ve followed his trajectory since then and gotten to see him again in 2015. Reading this book now felt similar to my first encounter: the comedy is still present, but the soulful and insightful depth is what enthralls. He’s authentic in his storytelling, and while so much of what he writes about could have easily ingrained in him bitterness and debilitating cynicism, there’s much grace and lightness that illuminates his stories.

His mother’s presence and impact looms large in this book, rightfully so since it is a dedication and love letter to her. The journey they’ve taken (separately and together) and bond they share is incredible. I’m glad she’s lived long enough (and continues to do so) to see her son thriving!
