  • Who else makes their own dehydrated meals?
Swipe left to see more pics.... Last year before heading to CO for my ELK hunt. I decided to dehydrate all meals and let me tell you I'm so glad I did. I was able to properly feed the machine without any malfunctions in the woods if you know what I mean:) I don't know about you but I cannot digest any of the major brands without feeling sick for several hours soon after. It could be many factors I'm sure like altitude, lack of properly hydrating or just the fact that your on beast mode hauling 30lbs + on your back. 
However what I found was two major things that just don't work well with my system.

SODIUM most of these pre-made meals some having as much as 800mg some containing more.

The other being the preservatives and additives they add to well extend the shelf life. Don't get me wrong if we were in some kind of survival situation i would gladly eat anything :) but luckily I'm not so having a shelf life of say 30 years is not really important:) Plus their is a certain satisfaction I got from making my own meals from scratch and knowing exactly what is going into my body.

  • Gloomy outside and it's hitting inside today. I'm not sure why but Thursdays are rough sometimes. I think it's just the stress of the workweek with other things that creep in and too much time to over think. I pushed through the blah and got my two miles in and can't wait to be off to hit the gym for a little chest and tricep work, which are probably my favorite parts to exercise. No choice but to keep pushing on and hope it helps. #FitDadInProgress #AlwaysMoving #MoveForward #DoTheWork #117LbsDown #ALotMoreToGo

This is something we have talked about a few times on our podcast. As physical therapists we should be movement optimists. We should be focused on how we can keep people as active as possible, and how to continue being engaged in activities that give them meaning
.
We have the skills to be able to assess and appropriately modify activity to allow people to continue to participate in what they love
.
Far too often we have seen people just shut down clients activities at the first sign of discomfort or pain and you can literally see the hope be sucked out of the person
.
Are there times where you have to eliminate something? Yes, of course there is. But, the goal should always be to find away to modify activity first. If that is truly not possible, shutting it down for a period of time may be necessary
.
