  • #69 - David: Le Mano of Light
‘"Life is an opportunity to channel love...." My mission is to just tell people that.... It's the life force.... Pure unadulterated positivity.... The future will be heart not head based.... We're here to co-operate and co-liberate each other.... To help each other peel back our fears and flower.... Giving up our fears leaves more room for love.... ❤’ - David, North Bondi

I met David at a Fluoro Friday @onewaveisallittakes event on Bondi beach back in March in a time where I was at a low with no light. David taught me positivity and brought a warmth to my life that changed my mindset completely since then. I felt like it was a bit of fate for me to meet David and absorb his light, love and positivity to prepare me for the tumultuous few months I have had since then, because I’ve triumphed through those obstacles without self-medicating, wallowing, depression and completely with a new outlook on life. Thank you David. ☀️

  • In my mother effing happy place 😍 If you know me at all, then you know art is a hugeeee part of my life. Why? Because art is a living dialogue with the past. It’s a reflection of what’s happened, what happening, and what’s to come. And I just think that is so freaking cool. 🤪
-
This silkscreen painting, by Andy Warhol (scroll left to see some of his work you might find familiar), created in 1962, depicts Marylin Monroe - obviously. But why? What can we decipher about the past by reading this piece of art?
-
Warhol depicts Marylin over and over again to evoke her ubiquitous presence in the media. It’s rumored that the relation between the left and right side is reflective of the relation between Marylin’s life and death.
-
Warhol was interested in portraying America’s newfound obsession with consumerism and our fixation with famous people. Looking back, this piece was creating during the rise of consumerism, because, believe it or not... there was a time not too long ago that the average American didn’t have access to a can of soup, TV, or the household items we all use and take for granted every day.
-
This piece is a reflection of this change in history, which, was actually a short while ago. Art really does give you a whole new perspective on life.
-
Looooong before we had history books, we had art. By identifying symbols & patterns, and looking for meaning in color, brushstrokes & style, we can use art to look into the past and understand what was happening in the world. Artist’s give us a visual portal into the events of our past, which without them, would be left unknown.
-
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 😝

  • On this day in 1984 as described in The Andy Warhol Diaries. “Sunday, June 24, 1984. We went and watched the Gay Day parade. The Gay Cops and me got the biggest clap and (laughs) I took photos…The float that got the most attention was the S&M float where the big guys were in leather with the keys and everything. All the beauties must’ve been shopping in Soho or out on Fire Island, ’cause they sure weren’t in this parade.”

  • Andy Warhol was a lovely friend of Philip Johnson and his partner David Whitney. Visiting the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut, you can be delighted to see this painting from Andy to Philip. Maybe you wonder about the colors... And yes, they are special. Andy painted specially for the architect in his own colors, in the colors that represented him and his famous house. It was exhibit in 1972 at the Museum of South Texas. #photography #andywarhol #philipjohnsonglasshouse #paintings #muse #beautiful #theglasshouse #art #contemporaryart

Helium-filled metallized plastic film

Second pic: Backroom of installation space where new Silver Clouds are made (each lasts only about a week). Warhol left detailed instructions on how to recreate his art.
