8 weeks out from AO1 and I'm finally starting to settle into the 73kg weight class. It's been frustrating to miss weights that I hit a few months ago but I feel more comfortable at the lower bodyweight.
95 kg and 100 kg snatch, 118 kg clean and jerk
I owe much of my success in the last year to training at @armorgymknox. This gym is unlike any other I’ve had the privilege to call my home gym, even though it was a short time. When I first stepped foot in this place, I instantly knew this is where I wanted to be.
Unique equipment aside (leg day is seriously the best here and many others can attest), the atmosphere is filled with some serious, and STRONG people - both the men and women! When I first joined, I loved the music blasting, I loved seeing every single person there working their asses off, I loved the knowledgeable and friendly staff.
I was beyond inspired and motivated at first, and then I was still inspired by the work ethic and strength of the people there even after the initial honeymoon phase wore off 🤩 I’m so grateful to have met some incredible people there and have the honor to have learned from some too! Words can’t express how grateful I am to be in the same space and just watch some of these people move the weight they do (and really freaking well). This gym is so unique for many reasons and one that’ll be hard to beat. I’m definitely gonna miss it here.
In honor of my last workout @armorgymknox before moving to Denver, I got a great pump from this workout:
* Pull-ups for good measure
* Box Squats: 3x5 (took the weight down to practice low bar squatting for the first time and my traps are SORE)
* 1.25 Hip Thrusts: 3x15
* DB Glute Hyperextension dropset: 3x12/12 (weighted and body weight)
* DB Glute Bridges: 3x50 SS w/
* Wide Grip Lat Pulldowns: 3x15
* Banded Clamshells: 3x20-30 SS w/
* Run the rack DB Lateral Raises: 2-3xFailure
Today was one of those days where it felt like many things were working against me but I still didn’t wanna miss this training session.
I don’t normally train on Sundays but yesterday I woke up not feeling it so I pushed the session off to today. I’ve been fighting a cold for the last 3 weeks which has always been in the background but today symptoms have gone back and forth between the sniffles (one of my apparent deadlifting cues today 🤣), sharp pains in my sides, and nausea #sendhelp .
But I still pushed through, mostly excited to break in my new @aesthreadics belt 😍. This is the FIRST time I’ve invested in a belt in the ~6 years I’ve been lifting and what a difference it makes! I’ve always heard it helps you lift a little more but using it primarily to help me brace has been crucial. Granted, it’s still a little difficult to breathe in this especially with a cold, but I feel way more secure in compound lifts with it on.
Anyways, here’s a few snippets of what I did today:
• Deadlift 4x2 @185✅
• Deadlift @205✅ (ugly but it went)
• Deadlift @215 (tied for a PR)
• Hip Thrust @225x15
• Glute burner with some banded quadruped hip extensions
Awesome time at the overhead press workshop today! We went over some shoulder mobility drills and exercises and then moved into technique and cues. These folks moved some weight today! Y’all killed it 💪🏻 #armorgym#overheadpress
