Vicinanze is a project born from the need to confront each other in order to start a dialogue on the Mediterranean as a place of crossing. The photographs are small studies displayed in the form of diptychs: are conversations to start a discussion on the border, are images that act as a conjunction. The Mediterranean is a sea in between lands, which today has lost its essence as a threshold: it has passed from inclusion to exclusion. For us it represents the starting point, the great basin from which our culture was born, our way of seeing, feeling, perceiving, living. It is the foundation of a plural culture, where our roots are. Working on the border today - together - means creating connection on a topic that separates. The attempt is to reverse the reading of the Mediterranean, as a cartography in which the routes are more important than the limits. This does not mean denying identity, but activating a reflection to recreate the relationship through distinction: distinguir pour unir.
