  • I’ve never mentioned this publicly before (although those who are particularly close to me will know about it) but for years - for ever really - I’ve suffered from geographical dyslexia. I’m not sure if there’s a proper medical term for it but this seems to be what it’s known as. I also have mild prosopagnosia (an inability to recognise faces - I only found out what it was called yesterday!). I have no idea whether the two are related but I suspect that they are. Bizarrely, I have an excellent memory in other ways. These ‘conditions’, if we want to call them that, have hampered my life and caused me a great deal of embarrassment and sometimes a feeling of shame. Let’s focus on the first one. To give you an example, I often can’t go to the loo in a pub or restaurant as I won’t be able to find my way back to the table! I can’t find my car in a car park. If I visit a large building like a hospital or school, I’m stuffed. I often take other people with me when I go out or meet up with others because I’ll almost certainly get lost. I can’t find my way into a town just a few miles from my family home in Suffolk, despite doing the journey hundreds of times throughout my life (with other people driving!). If anyone asks me for directions when I’m out, well, not only do I pity the poor bastards for choosing me 😂 but I’m struck by a feeling of absolute panic. I’ve kept quiet about this because people aren’t very understanding about it and I’ve spent my whole life feeling inept and ashamed by it. Saying to someone like me, “Just concentrate harder and you’ll be able to do it!” is like telling a dyslexic person, “Of course you can read those words on the page, don’t be ridiculous!”. I’ve experienced a similar thing with the face-blindness. Thankfully mine is mild, but again I’ve had it all my life. I can meet someone several times at an event or when I worked in a shop, but if I unexpectedly bump into that person somewhere else, I’ll know that I know them but will have no idea who they are! It’s like I can sense the familiarity but don’t know *how* I know them. I’m certain I’ve blanked people in the street because of this. Do any of you have the same thing(s)? 🖤

  • When I first got back into art, many of my drawings didn't include a background because I wanted the viewer to focus exclusively on the player. But it's amazing how much depth is created once a background is added. The piece becomes so much more immersive: it feels like you're looking into a three dimensional space that you can literally step into and be part of the moment.
@j.morris13 and I are only signing 200 limited-edition prints. Available now at KeeganHall.com for only $100 each.
***100% of proceeds will be donated to @jordanmorrisfoundation.
