From the „Tropical Reefs“ series.
Reefs are bars of rock, sand, coral or similar material, lying beneath the surface of water. Many reefs result from natural, abiotic processes like deposition of sand or wave erosion planing down rock outcrops, but the best known reefs are the tropical coral reefs developed through biotic processes dominated by corals and coralline algae.
Tropical coral reefs are the most diverse marine ecosystems on earth, giving shelter to thousands of animal species.
As seen on this photo some reefs appear above sea level when it’s very low tide.
Atlantic wall, work in progress.Thought it was time to try a seascape again as i have painted very few on this subject,so it's a challenge, trying to paint wave's and the sea's expanse. The source material is from photo's i took many years ago and forgot about until now.Photo here show's the under- drawing and blocking in colour's on the canvas.
I decided to compile this self portrait series that I've been working on over the past year or so. Nine works in total, some studies and others worked to full paintings. I learned so much about tone and colour through these.
