  • 10 habits change when you come to Paris✨

1. Quality rather than quantity
2. Eating crepes all year round
3. Coffee after dinner
4. Sunday is not for shopping as many shops are closed
5. You will become a cheese gourmet
6. You can eat baguette all day long
7. Mostly you will eat a proper lunch during 2 hours😁
8. Be patient when it comes to administration matters (extremely patient)😁
9. Less make up, more confidence
10. Getting used that your doctor’s office is actually bigger and prettier than your apartment😁

Would you agree? ⠀

🇬🇧 Last April, I left France with no real plans, all I knew was that I needed some fresh air.
365 days later, here I am. I never thought I would travel for so long but this year has taught me so much.
I drove my motorbike through Vietnam (after I learnt how to drive one), tested my diving skills in the beautiful sea of Malaysia, hiked some volcanoes and discovered the beautiful nature of Indonesia, swam with Manta Rays, chilled on a beautiful island south of Thailand, discovered the power of meditation in Myanmar, surfed in Sri Lanka, got completely overwhelmed by India, celebrated buddhist New Year’s for a week... But above all these experiences, I got to discover the people from all these places, and their incredible generosity and kindness to a stranger who seems to have more material comfort but who happens to be a lot less rich. This strengthens my faith in humanity, despite all the violence our world is now facing.
I know this trip is coming to an end, but now I have memories for a lifetime !
.
🇫🇷 En avril dernier, j’ai quitté la France sans trop de plans, si ce n’est un besoin d’air frais.
365 jours plus tard, me voilà.

  • Our second safari drive, evening this time, we tracked this guy (one of the biggest dominant males in the area) for an hour and a half. He strolled along, weaving in and out of the trees, took a little nap, stopped for a jungle poo, then headed deep into the forest looking for his mate and cubs! At times he was no more than 2 meters from the back of the open jeep. Being so close to such a magnificent wild animal was captivating, humbling, awe inspiring and a little bit nerve wracking! They are so beautiful! And powerful. And serene. Just an incredible moment. The experience left us a little bit speechless 🥰 .

  • When people ask “how is the new store?” I become overwhelmed with how much love I have for where I am at now. Perhaps it is more of what it symbolizes for me and the accomplishment of having a far fetched concept that is now my reality. Stop by soon XO Kristen
PS This Cherry Bombe cookbook is brilliant and saving our dinners from being boring almost nightly!

  • Waterfall Wednesday, right :)! This hike is one of my favorites, & bonus—it’s short, sweet, & hella kid friendly!
I see people feeling down often when they don’t have the means to travel to far off places like Norway and Iceland to see epic views. I can relate, because those places are indeed breathtaking. Yet, there are so many otherworldly spots in our state, the PNW, & the west in general, and I am always left speechless. I simply feel privileged and overjoyed I get to experience all of it in this part of my life, and I never want to take it for granted. 🖤

  • Ahh…the story of the suitcase and the staircase. A true tragicomedy in the making. (If you saw me trying to get this bag up the stairs you would have thought it was a comedy….I found it more tragic). I love the city of London and visit at least once a year to spend time there. But two things I do not love: the prevalence of stairs in tube stations and the lack of chivalrous strangers who will offer to help me carry this cadaver-sized bag up said stairs.

Last year, at the start of a 4-country tour of Europe & North Africa, I had to lug this bag up 6 stair cases across multiple tube stations in London. It wasn’t until the very last station that someone finally offered to help me. Just as I was about to give up on polite society all together (thank you, kind stranger lady). That’s why I was beyond happy to find a service like @bagbnb that allowed me to store my bags for the day. As I was staying at friend’s homes at opposite ends of London - I often found myself out and about for the day carrying my luggage.

With BAGBNB, I could leave my bag in a safe location all day for just £5. I’ve used their bag storage service in 3 cities now and have always been happy with my decision to do so.

BAGBNB makes life so much easier because you don’t have to lug around a bag all day and it gives you the sense of security that your valuables are locked up while you’re out exploring a city.

Check out the BAGBNB app or website to find if one of their 1000+ locations is in a city you’ll be visiting. Your bags, your back and your peace of mind are worth it! #theressomuchtosee

  • one year ago: I was travelling for about 1.5 years and was 5 months into my Work&Holiday in New Zealand, when I decided that this is not it. Dreams change and so did my dream to stay in New Zealand. It will always be my second home, but staying didn‘t feel right at that time. After travelling for so long, I was ready to settle for a while and not change places every couple of weeks.
I applied for a job back home in Germany, booked my flight back to Melbourne for a stopover with my friends and within not even 3 weeks, I had the job, flew home, found a flat and began a new life.
So when it comes to big decisions: ALWAYS trust your guts. It‘s usually always right.💫 I never regretted the choice of leaving NZ, because I know half of my heart is always there and I will always be back.
It’s been quiet on the blog for some time because I really needed some time to settle in after being away travelling for so long. Needed time to process and to reflect. But I wrote you a little update and also have many tips for you, if you just came back from longterm travels or moved to a new city and feel a bit lost. Hope those tips help you when settling back in. Find the link in bio 🔝
