Hi, it's me again. I had to take the opportunity to talk about one of the most memorable films I've ever seen at Sundance (2017). I knew nothing about it except one of my favorite actors Johnny Flynn @ginflon was in it. There’s a somber trapped feeling about this film that takes place on a small island community. Our protagonist, Moll (brilliantly played by Jessie Buckley) lives a small unhappy life with her mother who has control over virtually everything. When a newcomer Pascal (played by Johnny Flynn) is introduced her existence becomes exponentially more exciting. When a young woman in the community is found murdered it coincides suspiciously with Moll's exhilarating new relationship with Pascal. The connection seems doomed from the beginning.
This film is the definition of slow burn but in the most amazing way. Jessie Buckley made this Molly character complicated with few words and ALL the physicality and it is fascinating to watch.
What is the most unsettling about this film is the rawness, the sexiness, and the creepiness mixed all together in the most contradictory way as we watch Moll unleash the beast inside her. It’s worth watching at least a dozen times. I promise. .
From 2020 @BAFTA Awards will consider diversity targets for the first time...⠀
🔹 At least one of the lead characters in a programme must be from an under-represented group⠀
🔹 Programmes must have 50-50 gender balance for more minor on-screen individuals⠀
Radio Times magazine reports the new rules mean entries for the TV awards, which are set to open this month, will be assessed against the British Film Institute’s Diversity Standards.⠀
What do we think about these changes?
