It has really hit me this week that this weekend is my last WAHSET meet!!! It really does make me sad to think I am almost done with one of the best things that’s happened in my life. I have become best friends with people I truly believe will always be in my life💕 O’Hara and Sage have both been the best horses to go through WAHSET with!! We had our bad days, but we’ve had SOOOOO many good days. I’m so blessed with the best team out there 😉 I cannot wait to kick butt with you guys this weekend and at state❤️ I’m so excited to see how we do this weekend!! We have so many events we can qualify for we just have to keep it clean😊💕

Did lots and lots of slow work and drills today and that's all I did. I did a drill for tighter turns, faster turns & forward motion around the barrel, finishing the barrel, and collection and suppleness. It was a great ride. I also did some rollbacks and stops which he hasn't done since last August and he was amazing. So proud of him and how far he's come. 🥰🥰
getting my barrels painted 🤪
may only get one painted for now but ya know 🤷🏼♀️😂

When it clicks 🎉🎊🎉 it's the best feeling ever!
We went from a down 2nd barrel in an otherwise good run, to a middle 2D run, to a bottom of 1D run this weekend in youth! The competition was very fierce and every rider was there to grind and hustle. I was very happy to be a part of it!
Happy (late) Easter💐🐇🐣, one of my favorite holidays because it reminds me summer is coming and I don’t have to suffer because of winter and snow much longer.
Also look how tan I’ve managed to get😍
•Russel and I will hopefully race this coming week and I’m sooo excited!
Hey yall! I wont acutally start posting posting about Sage until me and her start racing together.
Here are some facts about her ⬇️
This is Pocos smokey sage aka "Sage"
She is a black Quarter horse
She is 6 turning 7
Almost ready to run barrels
Shes very athletic and speedy
She loves cow sorting
Shes a VERY moody mare but when she knows it's time to ride she is fully committed to what she is doing.
She is diffenelty not a beginners horse.
She doesn't buck and rear
SUPER proud of this mare and my best friend! This mare broke my friends back in a freak accident about 3 years ago. And she lost all her confidence in working her afterwards. UNTIL YESTERDAY! Mind you this mare hasn’t been ridden but ONCE since and she bucked her last rider off. We did two hours of ground work and flexing and moving her feet before we saddled her up. She never ONCE offered to buck. NEVER ONCE offered any stupid behavior! Thank you @downunder.horsemanship for everything you do. Because of your method,we turned this mares future around. Excuse my child yelling in the back ground and the nasty spring MT ground. I gave my friend her confidence back. And my heart is now happy for their future together! ❤️❤️ #secondchances#downunderhorsemanship#barrelhorse#newbeginnings
A little over a month’s worth of hard work, retraining, and progress between these two videos! 👏🏻
First barrel is arguably the most important, and this barrel has been a consistent problem for us, for a number of reasons- wrong bit, wrong approach, some chiropractic issues, etc.
The main problem, though, was my riding. I have years and years of muscle memory from riding other horses that work and handle *nothing like Peach. While I ride her almost every day and am well acquainted with her unique style, my nerves at a competition seem to pull old muscle memory back out. This is particularly bad when Peach is still being seasoned; my old/bad habits have no place in her/our growth 👎🏻 So, after the run in the first video, I went back to the round pen. Yes, the round pen. Not the practice pen; the round pen. The pattern wasn’t the problem; I was. I needed to reprogram myself and bolster my horse’s confidence in the process.
I have worked so hard on both of our form- more core engagement from me and hind engagement from Peach. I have focused on lots of speed adjustments, stops and starts, rollbacks- quick transitions to get us working, thinking, and adjusting together. Most of all, I’ve focused on just really being in sync with my horse, becoming hyperconscious of how my smallest movements affect this super sensitive little mare. I can feel myself riding so much better, and I feel we are on our way to becoming a truly great team! Bring on the summer 🏇 #monday#mondaymotivation#barrelracer#barrelracing#barrelhorse#horsetraining#progress#growth#confidence#backtobasics#alwaysimproving#neverstoplearning#texas
