  • Thank you to the young men who trained over a century ago on the ground that I stand on today, saw the last sunset over the majestic Rockies at home, shipped out to a far away land and sacrificed for the freedom we enjoy today.

  • - Signal Hill - Battalion Park - Calgary - (mid 1980’s)... Pic 1 - I was contracted to do aerial photo for the scheduled development of Signal Hill. While doing it, I saw numbers placed with rocks below on the hillside (indicated within the red rectangle.)... Pic 2 - I returned a week later when the numbers were clear of snow and photograph them. I recollected my uncle telling me the story many decades ago of him being stationed at Sarcee Curry barracks during WWII. He told me these numbers were placed there by WWI military service man. I contacted the Alberta heritage and the land Developer and I sent them my photo and told the story and that I wanted these numbers kept intact as they are historical. No one knew anything about these numbers... Pic 3 - After confirmation of the rocks authenticity a group was formed and they refurbish the area and made it into a Provincial park... Pic 4 - Further development was taking place in the foreground and the numbers are located at the top center. My photos are available at the Glenbow Museum Calgary. #signalhill #battalionpark #calgary #rocks #numbers #glenbowmuseum

  • Where Daisy lives there have been lots of bear sightings so for today’s walk we went into Westhills and did some exploring. We found lots of pathways and stairs to explore along Battalion Park.
