  • I’m still in awe that my body made a human! ✨20 weeks -  40 weeks - 1 week postpartum✨ on this #transformationtuesday I’m reminding myself and all the mamas in my position that it took a long time to make this baby, and it will take time for the body to recover! I’m almost 3 weeks postpartum now, and still 15 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight and far, far from my pre-pregnancy strength. It can be annoying when I try to put on my pre preg jeans and they don’t fit yet, but I’m reminding myself that I birthed a baby boy not even 3 weeks ago! ✨👼💙I have to give myself a break! If you’re postpartum or if you’ve just hit a rough patch in training or dieting, give yourself some grace.

Her hard work isn’t visible yet.
Her victories aren’t as obvious.
She is only just starting out.

Doesn’t mean it has less value.

Everything that I needed to be THIS right hand version of myself, began with her.
I’m getting all the credit for her hardwork. 
I no longer cry during burpees.
I no longer puff out at 300m running.
I no longer ache all day after a workout.

  • Well that sucked - to put it gently - probably my worst workout of this entire 10weeks. Idk if it was that the workout was that hard (don’t get me wrong this weeks arms was super tough) or that I had that bad of an off day. But I had to modify most of the exercises, only got through 1 circuit each time, felt unmotivated no matter what song I played, and by the end I wanted to cry.  I had to talk myself out of quitting idk how many times but I didn’t quit and like my phone case says I “just did it”. It wasn’t perfect, I don’t feel great about how I performed but I’m glad I did it and I hope I’m better the next time around. So if you’re struggling through your workout please know you aren’t alone.  We all have off days, what matters most is that you don’t let the off days keep you down. So here’s to putting that workout behind me and moving on to the next!

  • About a month ago, I instituted #wearitagainwednesday in my virtual bootcamps where you pick something from your closet that you dont fit in anymore and every Wednesday you try it on (as opposed to using the scale) and when it fits again, we can all celebrate you. 
I actually ripped one of the belt loops of these jeans trying to put them on 2 months after I had Cruz. Lol. Whoopsie. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know There aren’t huge changes since this photo was taken (and to be honest- I prefer shorts over pants so I wasn’t like DYING to get back in them) but today I decided to give them a try. And Wow- they fit way better and are about 1000x more comfortable not digging into my sides like before. I would feel great wearing them out like this. 
itw nice when you’re body responds to the work you’re putting in. And I know its frustrating when its doesn’t. but at the end of the day, as long as you’re continuing to work for what you want and not giving up, your work will pay off. The scale just might not be the only way it pays off. And it shouldn’t be the only way you measure your progress. 
And maybe instead of trying to fit back into clothes that don’t fit anymore bc they were from like 10 years ago and you are not that person, you go buy a nice outfit in a size that DOES fit. Afterall, NO ONE knows what size your clothes are but you! But they do notice the confidence you are rocking that comes from feeling great in an outfit that you love!

  • How do I find time to workout?! This is a question that I get ALL time. It may sound simple, but I just make the time for it, I make it a priority. I work full time outside of the home, and have two boys, aged 5 and 3, and I’m pregnant with babe number 3 (if you hadn’t noticed 😂🤰🏼). I carve out time each week and usually get in 4-5 workouts. My workout schedule is usually the same each week, but each day is different, if that makes sense.
.
Monday - I bring gym clothes to work, and head to the gym straight after.
.
Tuesday - We have a running club at work, and up until a few months ago, I was running 2-3 miles. I’ve switched to walking for the time being.
.
Wednesday - I work from one of our other locations, which is closer to one of my gyms. I get to work early and then hit the gym on my lunch break.
.
Thursday - My work offers either a weekly fitness or yoga class, which I almost always participate in, if my work load allows.
.
Friday - Rest day
.
Saturday - My husband and I take turns going to the gym.
.
Sunday - Rest day. Although I plan to start doing a little prenatal yoga since I’m only 8 weeks away from my due date.

I hope this helps! Basically, you just have to find a schedule that works for you and your family. If you have a family, then you definitely need a good support system. And most importantly you have to want to make it happen! If you do, then you’ll find a way.

  • Hampton didn’t sleep well last night, so I finally pulled him into bed with us around 3 am, and then I couldn’t fall back asleep for a couple hours - so I missed my morning #PWR workout.

Plan B: I decided I would go straight from work to the 5:15 pm @healthhousekc class, and was excited to get a killer workout in after a stressful day. I had my workout clothes on, was all ready to go and tried to head out the door - but Hampton’s cries stopped me. This isn’t unusual, he cries anytime I leave, and most of the time I just grit my teeth and deal with that ache in my heart and the hot tears that come to my eyes for a second. But tonight I just couldn’t. Working full time makes the #momguilt so real. 💔 I hate leaving him for any time in the evenings which is why I usually try to get my workouts done in the morning.

So on to Plan C: an hour jog with the jogging stroller and baby in tow. I got my workout in, Hampton enjoyed being outside in the sunshine and ooohing at all the puppies he saw on the trail. It was a win for everyone.

If being a mom has taught me anything, it’s that you have to roll with the punches and flexibility is key. Mom life is rarely easy but always worth it.

  • So, I did a thing. I kept looking at the frozen bananas in my freezer and decided I needed to make banana bread. Then I realized I was out of a few ingredients...so I improvised. And guess what.   • BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

Love bacon but need to get your fill of veggies? Then you gotta try these. This is my go-to dish that the whole fam enjoys eating. 
It's almost effortless, and clean up is a breeze too! --------------
Ingredients 🔹1 bunch asparagus
🔹1 pk bacon (preferably low-sodium and nitrite free)
🔹Salt & pepper (optional, to taste)

Directions 🔹Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. 🔹Trim the woody ends of the asparagus. 🔹Cut the bacon slices lengthwise to make narrower strips. Wrap each bacon strip tightly around an asparagus stalk, only slightly overlapping the bacon on each stalk (it will shrink during cooking). Place seam side down onto cookie sheet.
🔹Bake for 10 minutes. Turn over and bake another 10-15 minutes, until the bacon is almost crispy. Set the oven to broil, then place under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to crisp up more!

  • I had to smile 😀 Someone invited me to a gym class the other day, but ended it with I know you don’t like the gym- but this class is great. I will be the first one to say I used to LOVE the gym! That is TOTALLY not why I don’t hit up the gym on the regular.

The gym was a blast 👍! I enjoyed the people I met there and the fitness instructors. I loved the spin classes I took on Saturday mornings.
.
But my life is different now. I would rather workout from home on a Saturday morning and enjoy a pancake breakfast with my family afterwards then spend hours getting to the gym and back.
.
When my husband gets home from work I would rather spend that time together as a family then rushing off to the gym and only seeing him for a few minutes.
.
My time now is just more important and I hate wasting it on extra driving and time spent away from my family when I can get an amazing workout from my basement. Plus I’ll be honest- all those hours spent at the gym, while fun- just didn’t get me results.
.
I never learned how to properly eat, workout, or get stronger. I just did what class I wanted to do or was open at that time and never saw my body change. I spent hours at spin, running, or on the elliptical and didn’t see that scale budge or my clothes start to fit better.

  • Anyone else super excited that it’s officially spring?! I’m taking my girls to the petting zoo to celebrate. I also did some of my workout outdoors and it was heavenly! 😍 Going into spring I have one big goal and that is improving my diet. I eat pretty good, but I LOVE snacks and treats 🙈 I’m also terrible at drinking enough water... 😩 My goal for PWR 1.0 was to be absolutely consistent and not miss a single workout. I’m almost done with the 12 weeks and am happy to report that I have met my goal and made working out into a habit! 👏🏻👏🏻 SO going into PWR 2.0 I want to focus on getting enough to drink, eliminating all soda and sugary drinks, and eating clean - with only occasional treats and goodies! I’m super excited, but I also know it’ll be hard (I love ice cream so much! 😂😅) so wish me luck! 🙌🏻 #pwr #pwr2019 #sweat12wc #firstdayofspring #fitmoms  #bbgmoms #momswholift #fitness #girlswholift

  • Happy first day of Spring! ☀️🌸Awesome 45 min walk (with a 15 min pit stop at the park to swing ☺️) followed by the countdown challenge. I can already feel progress with my push ups, which I am TERRIBLE at, my arms are like cooked linguini noodles... .
The weather is GORGEOUS here today and it sparks so much hope in my heart. So over this winter, just can’t take it anymore! .
Every day that I force myself to get active instead of napping like my body so desperately feels it has to, I am so proud I pushed myself to do it. I use every tiny bit of energy I can muster and there’s not much left but it’s so worth it. It’s truly remarkable how the endorphins instantly lift your mood. The human body is such a miracle. I’ve been treating mine like total shit for far too long. Smoking most of my life (quit), drinking most of my life (cut down a lot and plan to cut even more) etc... etc... eating like shit, inactivity... we literally wouldn’t EVER do to other peoples bodies, what we do to our own. How sad is it that it’s so easy for us to treat ourselves like garbage when we know we’re good enough people to not ever treat anyone else that way... 🤷🏻‍♀️ ANYWAY! 
Never too late to change. .

It’s so easy to hit pause... heck to just hit STOP all together on your workout at home whenever you want to. When your toddler is begging you to hit pause to make her a sandwich. When there’s an awful smell coming from the baby’s diaper 😷 and he insists on sitting right next to you... No one is watching you and no one is judging you. JUST YOU.

I’ve definitely got to the point in my fitness journey where motivation is not enough to keep me going. Discipline does. Proving to myself that I can push myself to keep on going
