  • Today I’m 37! 😱🥳🎈 I cannot believe how much has changed in the ten years between these two photos. I’m a wife and mom of three boys under the age of 6, I work full time (although I’m on maternity leave right now), and I make my health and fitness a priority in my life. That girl on the left was lost, she went out partying every night, worked in a bar, dated losers, never worked out, ate tons of fast food, and suffered from depression and anxiety attacks daily. When I first started experiencing depression and anxiety, my dr immediately prescribed medication, which I continued to take for years. If only she had asked me about what was going on in my life, and suggested that I take better care of myself before prescribing a medication. 🤔 After years of taking the meds I decided enough was enough and I stopped taking them cold turkey (prob not the smartest idea). It wasn’t until I started working out, sleeping 8 hours a night, and eating real Whole Foods that my anxiety disappeared. I know that this was due to the lifestyle changes that I made. I used to be scared about getting older, fearing the changes in my body, the wrinkles, etc. but now I embrace them. Every year is a privilege and I’m so blessed to be spending this birthday with my three wonderful boys. ♥️♥️♥️

  • Do you find yourself dedicated and diligent throughout the week and then let loose Friday night and Saturday?

If you are getting the results that you want then no harm, no foul! Continue what you are doing girl!

But if you are frustrated because you are working so hard and not seeing results then give your weekend compliance a once-over.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s amazingly easy to completely erase the caloric deficit you’ve created the entire week with 2 days of splurging.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am not saying you shouldn’t splurge or enjoy life or even that you should feel guilty if you make a choice to enjoy #memoriesovermacros.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am saying that just like anything else in life YOU GET TO CHOOSE! Be intentional with your choices and pick what you want in life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ Sometimes that may mean you enjoy a Friday night dinner with your guy without tracking.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️Sometimes it may mean you prioritize your goals and go to the party without eating any of the food.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But if you splurge on Friday and Saturday and then wonder why you aren’t making progress towards your goal, tightening up your weekends is the next step.

  • Today I’m 4 weeks #postpartum and I’m feeling stronger each day. I’m just amazed at how quickly I’m feeling like my old pre pregnancy self this time. I strongly believe this is because I continued to workout throughout almost my entire pregnancy. I also fueled my body with healthy/nutritious food (most of the time). I definitely indulged and if I craved ice cream then I had it, but I didn’t use my pregnancy as an excuse to go nuts and eat anything and everything. 🍟🥓🧁🍩🍔🎂 I’m still following @kelseywells post pregnancy power program, in addition to walking nearly every day. My body is itching to move and I’m really looking forward to being officially cleared by my dr to workout like I was before I had baby Jack. I’m not exactly sure how much weight I’ve lost since I had jack, but I think it’s around 12ish pounds. Even though I was really good about NOT weighing myself while I was pregnant, I find myself dragging out the scale to see if I’ve lost another pound or two... If the scale shows that I didn’t lose anything else, then I get all bummed out... Anyone else struggle with this? I know this is completely against what I preach, but it’s so hard not to weigh myself... Any tips?!

In a culture when there is so much pressure to look or even NOT look a certain way—I have had to change my mindset and my outlook on not only my body, but how I care for it.⠀

Not working out to punish myself for enjoying food, but because it makes me FEEL good.⠀
⠀
Learning how to eat clean and healthy food while enjoying occasional treats and not feeling guilty.⠀
⠀
Because while looking good is a wonderful thing...I want to LOVE and cherish the body I was trusted with by my Heavenly Father. ⠀

And I think deep down you do too.⠀

What if starting TODAY Mama, you looked at and APPRECIATED all your body has done for you. If you looked in the mirror and LOVED yourself enough to change instead of despising what you saw.⠀

These 6 weeks have a been a roller coaster with lots of work and travel but I tried to stay active and get my workouts done! Enjoyed some good runs as well!

Nutrition has been a struggle, time to get back on track and stay balanced! .

  • There is a year between these photos, the one on the left was January 2019, and the one on the right is from today. I should start by saying a year ago January I was 2 1/2 months postpartum so had I done little exercise, I probably would have naturally shed more of the ‘baby weight’ but this isn’t just to highlight what I lost last year, it’s about what I gained. That girl on the left was weak, in constant hip and back pain, and tired mentally and physically. I can’t say how many workouts I cried during when I started. But I knew I had to keep going. The path has not been linear, I’ve switched programs from bbg to pwr and back and forth again. I’ve taken week breaks here and there and I took 2 months off this last summer And I was lax around the holidays, but more often than not I stuck with it. Doing bbg this last year I gained a solid at home exercise routine. A community of women who are super inspiring to see committed to themselves and their health. My STRENGTH. My SANITY. My ME TIME. *y’all moms know what I’m saying. So many positives. 2020 I’m all about consistency consistency consistency. It is so so key. Here’s to making summer bods in January 😉

  • Hello new week! 
My year didn't start how I wanted to or planned it. I have been feeling bad about it, frustrated and just plain sad. BUT it's only a flu! One week in a full YEAR of possibilities. .
I've still got my overall health, family and friends. I'll be able to workout again, possibly tomorrow. Really excited about it😁 I was going to do abs today, but got a migraine... Half of my head is throbbing🤕

BUT, I have my new planner ready for the #sweat2020 challenge that starts next week. And there are plenty of chances to get a workout in this week before the challenge. I'll be doing Pwr at Home. Just have to make a good plan and stick to it. I have a lot to do this week, plus a whole mountain of work before a weeks holiday. Laundry, cleaning, ironig, packing, more laundry and more packing... And then reassuring my kids, my mother and myself that we'll all be ok for the week🙈🤞

I talk daily to women who tell me ALL the time how little support they feel when it comes to their own needs, how they are constantly putting everyone else first, how making plans for themselves is almost non existent with the changing schedules and how lonely they can feel....

4 years ago I joined an online community for those EXACT same reasons.. I wanted other women to talk too who GOT IT! .
I really just wanted SUPPORT and I NEEDED to make my own health a priority! .
I wanted to connect to women that knew what living as a First Responder Family  meant, moms that felt like they managed everything and didn’t have time for themselves and most importantly women that craved community!

❤️These next 60 days of INTENTIONAL movement & daily mindset work is a gift we ALL need to give ourselves! .
I personally, can’t think of a better way to build resilience, positive mental strength, connection & self awareness then through those two things above! .

  • I have come to a point where I just need to find these fabric resistance bands! I did find an online store in the US, but all the shipping costs and taxes would cost more than 3 bands... So not an option. It would have been perfect, bc there were the long ones and the shorter booty band ones.

It would be cheaper to just move there 🙈

But seriously there has to be a store where I can get reasonably priced fabric bands, right?! Even if I live in this s*itty little country of mine far far away....

  • I have come to a point where I just need to find these fabric resistance bands! I did find an online store in the US, but all the shipping costs and taxes would cost more than 3 bands... So not an option. It would have been perfect, bc there were the long ones and the shorter booty band ones.

    It would be cheaper to just move there 🙈

    But seriously there has to be a store where I can get reasonably priced fabric bands, right?! Even if I live in this s*itty little country of mine far far away....

  • I haven’t been very active on here but I’ve been keeping up with workouts! Well let’s be real I’ve been mostly keeping up with workouts. Have had a a few life things that slowed me down... but I am keeping up, and this week has physically felt really good!   • Every now and again I like to share a little about who I am for those who may be new around here—I give my self imaginary bonus points if I can surprise those of you who’ve been here a while!

I’m Erica, a fitness & wellness coach from Mayer, Minnesota. this time of year, I’m always sure to watch “Love Actually.” That’s a holiday tradition for me, I usually pop it in when everyone is asleep #momtime

I’m definitely a last-minute shopper, I really don’t like all the busyness of the stores, so I try to do most of it online if I can. The one thing I do love is the pop Christmas music. Yep, it may be cheesy, but I love it because it always gets me in a fun and cheery mood!

I love the sound of snow crunching under my boots and the feel of the crisp winter air (as long as I’m not outside in it too long 😆)... and there’s no better sight to see than driving around and looking at all the Christmas lights in the neighborhood.

Keep me away from the ginger snaps and snickerdoodles—OK, 1 or 2 will do 😉

  • When I first saw this video of me running alongside my daughter in Turkey Trot’s kids run today, I felt myself drowning in a sea of emotions comprising of insecurity, self-criticism and shame. For as long as I can remember, I have been highly conscious of my hips. Right from the time my ‘best friend’ in grade 8 told me- ‘ you should not tuck your shirt in, your hips are huge.’ 🍓Why do we always remember our criticism but pass off the compliments as being biased? 🍓After I let the initial emotions threaten to take me back, I watched this video again and again. And this is what I saw- 💕 a little girl looking up to her mother with love and pride 💕 a mother running proudly alongside her toddler, grateful for this moment 💕 a girl who is now a woman and has fought again and again 💕 a woman who will never quit 💕 a woman who is occupying the only permanent home in this world, who is grateful to be breathing and living with her loved ones 💕 a woman who doesn’t look a ‘certain way’ but still takes care of herself 💕 a woman who two years ago would have eaten everything in sight after seeing this video but today continued with her normal self- care routine 💕 a woman who doesn’t has to look a particular way to feel beautiful 💕 a woman who is massively proud to be a mother to this child and so very grateful 💕a woman who loves herself fiercely everyday but some days needs extra effort 🪔you can feel beautiful in every shape, size, color 🪔 being fit doesn’t mean looking like any particular person, it just means being your best version 💕 I could have never imagined posting this video, yet that is the very reason I am posting this @kayla_itsines @sweat @bbg_community #bbgmoms #bbgmomsover30 #bbgmomsover35

  • Happy Sunday, Insta family!! I started a new program of @sweat BBGStronger this Monday but this things did not go the way I planned with my son being sick and juggling the new phase of entrepreneurship and clinic!   • A very personal vulnerable transformation- from the depths of postpartum depression to today ( completed my 6th half marathon yesterday) brought to you by the power of @sweat, running, yoga with @adrienelouise ,nutrition, water, meditation @calm and faith. 
The left picture is of the time when I was at my lowest. I didn’t want to live any longer. I felt unworthy and thought if I was gone nobody would miss me. But during those dark moments, when my newborn would hold my pinkie finger or look at me just for a few seconds, I knew I had to fight. For myself. There was nobody I could explain to what I was going through. My doctor advised me therapy or medicines. I didn’t want to take medicines for personal reasons and I couldn’t afford therapy. My life was coming apart, it was affecting all my relationships and I was unraveling. 
Not even one person has lived through the exact same moments as me and that’s true for everybody. I know the hills I have crawled and fallen from, I am proud of my every step and I take pride in learning from my setbacks. I fought to live and here I am today, writing this. I feel powerful and strong. Whenever I need motivation I go look in the mirror and say this- ‘ you warrior, you have crossed oceans all alone, you have everything you need within you. Go for it.’ Because I have come to realize that outward motivation can only last so long, it’s the inner motivation that will see me through. I am my greatest heroine. ‘All the wonders you seek are within yourself. ‘- Thomas Browne. Fight for yourself because that is your greatest battle and will be your most satisfying victory. Nurture your dreams, fight for everything you want to be. Because you deserve to be the best version of yourself. You have everything you need, right within you, even at this moment as you read this. You are beautiful and powerful. You are everything you dream of.
