  • I have absolutely loved being able to share summer fruits like these with Arna. I will cut up fruit like this for the whole family and put the extra into one of those mesh feeding pouches ( #BBGmums you know what I mean but I have NO idea what they’re called) for Arna to have. It’s been such a good way to introduce her to eating fresh fruit and she loves it! Everyone knows nutrition is really important to me and my family and I want Arna to grow up and be able to eat and enjoy the different foods that we have. So far she has also tried peanut butter, eggs and my grandmother's pasta which she loved 😍

  • Back home, debloated and feeling my energy come back. I have the most hectic week ahead but I’m prioritizing my workouts. So 1 hour of spin today and a 45 min strength session at home later when the kids nap between meal prep, packing for our shoot tomorrow and cooking dinner. I’m going to put together the post for tomorrow and write down my meal diary for you guys. It feels good to be in my own space but I do miss the family time and the heat a whole lot. #gym #gymmotivation #fitmom #fitmoms

Small changes over time are how you go from hating, to neutral, to love. 
Throw away the things that don’t serve you. If weighing yourself causes stress, compulsion or anxiety get rid of scale. If following ‘perfect’ accounts stirs up negative feelings press that unfollow button! Start with just one thing. Master that. Move onto the next thing. 
It’s a journey, and I promise you, you don’t walk it alone 💕

  • Just a friendly reminder, as we get close to the beginning of a new year... Set your goals for a lifetime, not for a month or a year. Strive for happiness, health and longevity, not a size or number on the scale. Short-term goals are a good and helpful thing, but putting the focus on developing TRUE habits out of the behaviors it takes to reach them will take you far beyond where you ever thought you could go.

Yep that's me in 2008. I was going down a path that was only getting harder, more uncomfortable, and looking and feeling more and more bleak. it would be about five more years before I finally committed to taking control of my health. In 2012, when I did, I intentionally put my focus on all my daily habits- small ones and big ones. Almost 8 years later and look how they've compounded. Never perfect for sure, but I'm living proof that it's possible if you can dedicate yourself to small changes over time, without excuses. Because life will always be happening and there is NEVER a good (or bad) time.

Maybe you've been making this promise to yourself year after year. Quit that shit. Now's your time. 2020 is your year... I can feel it. ❤️

  • BLUEBERRY CRUMBLE PIE OATMEAL PROTEIN MUFFINS with Maple Coconut Frosting 😍🔥
Ingredients: 
1 3/4 c oatmeal flour (or blend oats in food processor or blender)
1/4 c coconut sugar (increase to 1/2 cups of you like sweeter muffins)
2 scoops collagen peptides (optional)*
2 1/2 tsp baking powder 
3/4 tsp salt
1 egg, well beaten
3/4 c almond milk
1/3 c coconut oil
1 c blueberries 
preheat oven to 400F. mix together dry ingredients. combine almond milk, egg and coconut oil and add to dry ingredients. then, add blueberries but make sure you don’t over mix. 
put the batter in a greased muffin pan and bake for 20-22 minutes. Drizzled with maple coconut frosting (the only ingredients: maple syrup and coconut butter-recipe is on @thekellykathleen feed❤️

  • My beautiful, strong body created this little boy, a little brother for my daughter 😍🥰
It doesn’t wear of, the amazement of nature’s work 🤷‍♀️ This was my second pregnancy in two years and yet I’m still in awe of what we are capable of! 😮👏
I don’t feel like my body is ruined in any way. I gave birth to my baby two weeks ago and I have extra weight, loose skin and huge milk makers and that’s NORMAL! The picture in the left was taken 5-weeks into my second pregnancy and 1y4m after having my first baby so I have seen how the body changes through pregnancy and post partum and it’s really amazing. For my own wellbeing I will (when I’m ready for it) start my second post partum fitness journey to strengthen my body, especially the core and pelvic floor, but there is no rush. And I am definitely not going to limit food intake because it’s important to have energy for breastfeeding and milk production, especially with little sleep!!
In case you feel anxious about the post partum period, don’t 🤗😘 Slowly and surely you will recover and with consistent effort (and there no rush!!) you can feel strong and fit again!! 💪
I’m hoping to get there by the end of this year but I’m not setting any strict timelines ☺️ Right now I’m mainly snuggling my newborn and trying to survive not sleeping 🤪

Prove to yourself that you will show up for YOU even when you don’t feel like it - because let’s be real, life is hectic and most of the time we don’t feel like it. Be so committed to your progress that growth bleeds into every area of your life. The outward transformation we see from showing up over and over is just a result of the inward transformation that had to happen first. That inward transformation...that’s how you change your LIFE. The transformation where you no longer accept excuses from yourself. When you push yourself to be better every day because you crave the feeling of success after overcoming a challenge or hurdle you’ve been faced with. You did that. No👏🏼one👏🏼else. If you’re sitting on the sidelines waiting for the right time, I’m waving you in. Get up, it’s game time👊🏼✨

I've been really enjoying group workouts for the don't-have-to-think-someone-boss-me-around vibe, but I've started missing my solo runs 🏃‍♀️ I've committed to including a couple into my week to try and mix together the two. Do you mix it up or are you firmly in one camp? 🏋️

  • Everybody is different and every training style is different. What works for your body /personality might not necessarily work for someone else. This is why when it comes to LISS in the @SWEAT app you can choose what works for you - select from either walking, running, cycling or ‘other’. Any form of exercise that you can maintain at a steady pace without stopping can count as your LISS session! I even had a lady tell me that it was so cold where she lives that she just did laps of her hallway for half an hour while she watched Netflix on her phone, and she said it worked perfectly for her! I mean yes, it’s amazing to be able to get outside for some fresh air, but for lots of us, especially #BBGmums, this isn’t possible. I get up in the morning to walk on the treadmill in my pyjamas because that’s what works for me and my body and my schedule. So however you can get exercise in is fine, whatever works for you.

For the ladies who choose to RUN for their LISS sessions, just try to maintain constant slow jog so your heart rate doesn’t get too high, remember LISS = low intensity - steady state.

  • The last six weeks completing the @sweat challenge have been exactly what I needed. A strong start to the year, and that extra bit of motivation to add consistent exercise into my weekly routine again. ⁣
⁣
Yes there have been physical changes in that time for me, but most of them can’t be captured in a photo. I have more energy. I’m sleeping better (when Daphne lets me 😳). I’m stronger. I’m thinking more clearly. And on the days I complete a work out my mood is much more positive than on the days I don’t. ⁣
⁣
Most importantly of all, I’ve made myself really proud. Not of the physical results, but of this 👉 (swipe).⁣
⁣
These are small snippets from my stories over the last six weeks. It’s me showing up (and Daphne often joining ☺️). It’s pushing through the times I didn’t want to get off the couch, and feeling SO much better for it. It’s taking a half hour for ME, and recognising what an impact that small decision makes when the days begin to add up. ⁣
⁣
For all the women who joined the challenge too, I hope beyond everything else - the progress photos, the number on the scale, the inches around your waist - that you just feel PROUD of the commitment you made. You did something big, for YOU, and that’s not a small accomplishment.⁣

Next up for me is weeks 7-12 of BBG! I want to finish a full 12 weeks before considering changing things up again. ⁣

I can’t believe how good I feel after today...my mood has been so much better, and I made it through the day without needing to have a nap, I’m not even tired now and it’s past 10...I actually feel happier.

~ I did the best I could with the Legs workout (today my best meant one round of circuit 1 minus the burpees, and half a round of circuit 2...but that’s okay) ⭐️

  • BBG post pregnancy workout again today now that the sweat challenge has wrapped up. Also did a 5 min run with 2 min walking warm up and cool down to test out my knees and they are not happy! Getting some joint ache in my knees which is new to me and seems to have gotten worse while resting them 🤷‍♀️ going to get them checked out.
I feel like the post pregnancy workout program is targeting a lot of the muscles I need to strengthen to gain back posture and symmetry so I'm glad I'm doing it!

I will cut up fruit like this for the whole family and put the extra into one of those mesh feeding pouches ( #BBGmums you know what I mean but I have NO idea what they’re called) for Arna to have. It’s been such a good way to introduce her to eating fresh fruit and she loves it! Everyone knows nutrition is really important to me and my family and I want Arna to grow up and be able to eat and enjoy the different foods that we have. So far she has also tried peanut butter, eggs and my grandmother's pasta which she loved 😍

  • To finish off week 2 of Fierce was full body circuits last night. So week 2 is smashed 💯 actually more than 💯 because I did a yoga sesh during the week as well so they tracked as 4/3 resistance workouts in the week 😊 ✅ challenge ✅ LISS x2 ✅ HIIT x1 ✅ revovery/rest ✅ feels amazing!! I am so glad to be back to my old self and even stayed on track with my diet this week. I’m a little miffed cos I wanted to have the screenshot of my dashboard from yesterday all done but when I finished my last workout I still had a couple thousand steps for the day and thought I’ll wait until I’ve done my 10k but I was so busy I didn’t check until after midnight and missed it 😭 no matter. The point is I did it. How you breathe can have an impact on your pelvic floor and your diastasis healing. Normally, when we exhale, our diaphragm should be elevating and our abdominal wall, PF and lower back should be tensioning in coordination with the diaphragm. However, during pregnancy, when your baby is getting bigger, it’s pushing more and more on your diaphragm, which inhibits how deep you can breathe. By the end of your pregnancy, this can cause dysfunction in the diaphragm lifting, which means shallow breaths. And often, after childbirth, we keep breathing the same way. So if your PF is meant to work in coordination with your diaphragm (as I’ve mentioned before) and your diaphragm is not working properly, that means your PF won’t be working properly, either. Bad breathing will increase pressure in your abdomen and will have a negative impact on the rehabilitation of your PF and diastasis. That’s why it’s very important to re-establish/re-train your breathing patterns as soon as possible, before you start doing any exercises.

  • Do we need to detox?

It’s a contentious topic and a question I’m asked regularly. 
My answer? Most of the time it’s simply, yes.** While it’s true that the primary role of the liver is to detox the body the sad truth is that the world we live in is just unavoidably toxic.

Everything from the air we breathe, to our personal care products on our skin, the chemicals our food comes into contact with, and the toxins in our furniture and pillows (true story) is loading us up day after day. Its certainly a much more toxic world than our bodies were made to cope with!

While I believe the first step to reducing this load is making healthier choices, like swapping to natural cosmetics and cleaning products, to a point toxins are just part of our modern day life. Hence, I detox. 
And when I detox... I have more energy to play with the kids 
My skin is clearer and smoother
Bloating and lethargy disappear
My chronic pain improves 
My memory and thinking improve 
I lose weight 
But not every detox product is equal and as always natural is the way to go. The products I use are naturopath made so are clean and effective. Made with wholesome real food ingredients and specific herbs that naturally support the bodies in built processes. 
But my favourite part of doing the detox is connecting with the community of other like minded women who do it too. Together we spend 21 days committing to our health and supporting each other. We have a 21 day meal plan to guide food choices to support your liver as well as private Facebook group just to help you meet your goals.

  • New week, new chapters. My little guy is 15 weeks old today 😭🙈💙 And I’ve begun @kelseywells PWR at home program from the @sweat app - legs and abs ticked off this morning with Oakley cheering me on, aka waking halfway through my workout and watching me finish it with smiles and squeals 😄👊🏼
If anyone else is doing PWR and would like to join a small accountability group/DM thread I’m starting up for the over the next 12 weeks, leave me a comment or a message so I can add you! I know how important it is having a supportive group to keep you motivated and spurring you on during challenges like exercises programs! Last 2 pics were taken today. I’m at the stage where it’s sink or swim. Do not let clothes fool you lol. I know how hard I have to work to get to the next stage. The top of my core under my crop too I’m very happy with. But one thing that gets me now is my mum pouch... and yes that’s exactly what it is. Excess stretched skin and fat. Majority of us mum have this after pregnancy, it’s the one part of the body that gets stretched the most. ⁣

Yes when I sit down it folds over my knickers, and I’m ok with that for now. I know that if I focus on reducing body fat this will also change. So I’m sucking it up and starting my graft again! ⁣
⁣
Phase 2 here I come. I know I am the only one who can change this. And it’s not just for aesthetics it’s form my mental health. Feel good, look good, and ooze confidence! ⁣⁣⁣

This body shape is all new to me as I’ve never been this heavy. But it feels good to be in Unknown territory! Currently weighing 72.9kg and before my 2nd born I was at a steady 63kg for 5 years. So you can see I’m not used to this weight. ⁣⁣⁣

  • The journey to REALLY loving your body doesn’t happen over night! I didn’t suddenly wake up and be ok with every part of me; big or small. 
Small changes over time are how you go from hating, to neutral, to love. 
Throw away the things that don’t serve you. If weighing yourself causes stress, compulsion or anxiety get rid of scale. If following ‘perfect’ accounts stirs up negative feelings press that unfollow button! Start with just one thing. Master that. Move onto the next thing. 
It’s a journey, and I promise you, you don’t walk it alone 💕

  • I have absolutely loved being able to share summer fruits like these with Arna. I will cut up fruit like this for the whole family and put the extra into one of those mesh feeding pouches ( #BBGmums you know what I mean but I have NO idea what they’re called) for Arna to have. It’s been such a good way to introduce her to eating fresh fruit and she loves it! Everyone knows nutrition is really important to me and my family and I want Arna to grow up and be able to eat and enjoy the different foods that we have. So far she has also tried peanut butter, eggs and my grandmother's pasta which she loved 😍

I want to talk about that time of the month aka your period.
.
For some ladies getting their period is like clockwork and it comes every month with no issues. However, for others (myself included) it is not that simple. Now when I was 16 not getting my period every month seemed like a blessing in disguise, it didn't concern me at all, I actually enjoyed not getting it. 
Then of course I went on the pill and I got it every month because of this. 6mths after coming off the pill it stopped again, this time it was concerning as we were trying to fall pregnant. After a bit of intervention then turning to a Naturopath I managed to get my period back! Which for me was extremely exciting!!
Ita now been around 5mths since I stopped breastfeeding and this is my 2nd month in a row of getting my period, which as annoying as this time is, it makes me so happy and I hope my healthy lifestyle will help with keeping them regular 💜
But for now I'll be enjoying some icecream, too many Oreos and double chocolate Tim Tams 🤤
