Posted a Holiday playlist over in stories and my Rome vlog #2 is live!📺 (Link in bio) thanks for all the great feedback. I love making these videos for you guys. Anything in particular you’d like to see in the next few weeks ?! ✨
I wasted my teens, twenties and even a fair chunk of my thirties not listening to much #BillyBragg and in some ways that’s a bit sad, but in other ways the time since has been an absolutely joyful and glorious voyage of discovery as a result. This #BestOf#AtTheBBC 3xLP collection is an amazing release. A lot of fantastic alternate versions of classics you know and a decent selection of less well known gems and covers (with the ‘Essex A13‘ #Route66 reinterpretation being a particularly fine example of both). I managed to snag a nice limited edition deluxe white vinyl signed copy too. It’s a beautiful pressing which sounds absolutely superb. As an added bonus I have three consecutive nights of Billy Bragg to look forward too in May 2020 when his ‘One Step Forward Two Steps Back’ tour comes to Sydney. This is an absolutely wonderful way to spend a quiet Saturday night. Awesome stuff. 👍🏻😀. #vinyl#nowplaying#nowspinning#vinyljunkie#vinylcollection#vinyllove#lovevinyl#vinylporn#vinylclub#vinyladdict#vinyligclub#vinyllovers#analogue
THE GUARDIAN has THE LIGHTHOUSE at number 40:
Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson are lonely masturbating lighthouse keepers in Robert Eggers’ triumphant follow-up to The Witch: a salty, black-and-white Steptoe and Son in hell.
THE RINGER has HIGH LIFE at number 7:
The movie is brutal and uncompromising, and, as it pushes out the other side of its provocations, tender and surpassingly humane. Its brilliance lies in Denis’s understanding that the difference between these two extreme polarities is really nothing at all.
TIME OUT has THE LIGHTHOUSE at number 12:
You can watch Robert Eggers’s hypnotic black-and-white psychodrama and walk out talking like a pirate. The dialogue, supplied by Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as crusty lighthouse keepers, is exquisitely baroque. Even in a film this gorgeous and lushly scored, their cantankerous speech is the true music of the film—the sea shanty of lost men.
Im not a big fan of best of albums, but as his discography is so big this is a great one. This is if Im correct also the only best of album in my collection. Spinnin' Strictly Commercial by the one and only... FRANK ZAPPA
