  • #BeautyClinic: Everything you need to know about lip fillers
Are Botox and fillers still popular? The answer is Yes.

Record numbers are seeking lip enhancement procedures. The global market for lip augmentation, by type is segmented into temporary lip augmentation and permanent lip augmentation
Each year, Australians spend approximately $1 billion on cosmetic treatments. At a per capita rate, that is 40 per cent more than Americans.
I am super open about having filler in my lips, I see so many people hide or lie about having Filler and Botox and we see young women compare themselves to images and videos on social media feeling upset. Let’s be real, lots of the beauty you see on social media is largely enhanced, filtered and now it is so common to have cosmetic treatments .
I am 26years old and have had my lips injected 3 times in my life, Ive had my filler dissolved for a year and I have only had botox on my forehead (frownlines) once.
We see younger people requesting fuller lips and since 2000 a staggering 40% increase in younger women opting for this kind of treatment! The demand is continuing to grow.
So lets understand lip filler before we decide to do this or where to do this:
Risks
FILLER - It is important to remember that this is not a fool proof procedure. Risks include bruising, swelling, bleeding, and can lead to further complications if injected inadvertently into a nearby blood vessel.
Benefits
What can lip fillers do?

How is injectable lip filler used? “Fillers are typically used to increase the volume and size of the lips. ... “Collagen works by plumping, while hyaluronic acid works by both plumping but also holding water within the lip for a more natural effect.” Now that you know that hyaluronic acid is the best filler for your lips, you're probably wondering which hyaluronic filler to choose. Our two favorite hyaluronic fillers for lip enhancement are Juvederm and Restylane. One of the biggest differences between Juvederm and Restylane is texture.
What I use: Juvederm Ultra
How long does Juvederm Ultra last in lips?

Usually 12 months

I get mine @cityaestheticaustralia very happy with the natural result!

  • —Cold Sores—⠀⠀⠀
Are caused by a virus known as HSV1 (herpes simplex 1).⠀⠀⠀
This is nothing to be ashamed about- they’re way more common than you may think! ⠀⠀⠀
HSV1 can occur at any age, but usually during childhood. After the first cold sore, the virus remains resting in the body forever and can be triggered/reactivated at any time.
⠀⠀⠀
Any trauma can reactive this virus! This includes sun, stress (mental and physical), needle punctures from lip fillers, laser, chemical peels etc. ⠀⠀⠀
Regardless if it has been 1 month, 1 year or 10 years since your last cold sore; you are still at risk of an outbreak after having your lips done. ⠀⠀⠀
Don’t worry 🙃 you can still get your lips done! ⠀⠀⠀
With a good consultation we can help you to prophylactically plan and prevent an outbreak after your treatment.
⠀⠀⠀
It is my policy to have a cold sore management plan in place with you, which usually involves anti viral tablets from the chemist for approx. $15, natural tablets such as lysine, or the About Face Lip Saver BOOST vitamin injection (which contains lysine and vitamin C). We also offer LED light treatments to help manage cold sores if one of the pesky buggers pop up. ⠀⠀⠀
Of course, you can be prone to cold sores, get lip filler and have no sign of an outbreak. But it’s good practice to be precautious and minimize the risk.
