  • What is it that draws you to a particular painting? What are the thoughts, but more importantly, the feelings you have when a piece of art keeps you glued to it?
Art is subjective. What I might consider to be art, or of artistic note, or what I might want to hang in my home might not be to my friend’s or neighbor’s, and vice versa. There are so many different styles and types of art it would be impossible to list them here, but that just emphasizes the fact that there are as many different preferences and tastes as there are artworks, artists, and collectors alike.
So what I will be sharing here is entirely my own (biased) preference. I too am a creative, (I still find it hard to say ‘artist’!) and also someone who would have loved to (had I had the financial ease) to be a collector and have her own art gallery/studio/shop - I would certainly need it because my collection would honestly be ginormous!! 😂 In lieu of that, I created this page where I could have a virtual gallery and enjoy ‘collecting’ and sharing art in this way.
So for my first share I chose @kemizyart ‘s abstract bird art. It was actually the first thing I saw this morning and it made me smile with joy. it literally lit me up. My soul rejoiced.
There’s a freedom in her brushstrokes that kind of reminds me of the way birds flit from branch to branch, always moving, always restless and, unless you can freeze them with a camera, they are always a blur of colour.
Kemi is a self-taught artist unafraid of experimentation, trying new things and making mistakes; which is why she is particularly drawn to creating abstract art. As she says, “It allows me to define art on my own terms; it allows me to be free.” “Art is like a bird that flies in the sky in any direction, east, west, north, south, up or down; like a bird who sings without worries. I feel like a bird when I paint.” What is your definition of Art?

Thank you for joining me!
