I remember years ago seeing the calesthenics guys training in Dyckman and @edbarstarzz and @johnnyinkredibles at the Armory and being amazed at what these guys could do on the bars. At that time, I could barely do pull ups and definitely could not get my toes to the bar. Now I've way surpassed the goals and expectations that I had for myself at that time. And dare I say it but I'm so proud of myself.
And while I'm still not ready to compete with these guys 😝, they say a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. So I'm just gonna keep putting one foot in front of the other!

Lotta y’all goin round in circles playing this game because you don’t want to call a thing a thing.
Healing the BMW requires autonomy from the mother. It requires we be able to see and say what the truth is objectively...even when it stings our tongue.
You have to stop making it about her. That’s been the issue all along.
As black girls we were raised to honor and respect our mother and that meant put her on a unrealistic pedestal.
We honored all she did for us, our family, the community, her sacrifice. All of it.
But as we grew into women we weren’t allowed to adjust our vision and see her as a fallible human.
So we bore the brunt of the pain she caused because there’s no way in hell MY MAMA, MY QUEEN could be so selfish, narcissistic, mean, abusive to ME.
No never, not my mama.
It must be something I’m not doing right.
Let me work harder for her love. Let me change myself. Let me talk to her about it. Let me make a case.
This is just the little girl behavior being acted out in a grown woman. It’s maladjusted and doesn’t work.
Healing starts and ends with you becoming your mother and transferring all that honor and respect to yourself.
And I can’t promise you that your mother will come around and see your gloriousness.
But I can promise you that you will see it.
And when that happens you’ll realize that’s all that ever really mattered.
Not being tense but ready.
Not thinking but not dreaming.
Not being set but flexible.
Liberation from the uneasy sense of confinement.
It is being wholly and quietly alive, aware and alert, ready for whatever may come.”

Day 2~ #warrior1 is a pose that helps build focus, power and stability. #Virabhadrasana "spiritual warrior," who bravely does battle with the universal enemy, self-ignorance (avidya), the ultimate source of all our suffering.
This pose is harder than it looks y’all. The balance and strength required is intense! It takes knowing which muscles should be firing and which should be relaxed. The balance of not too much and not too little.
It’s the same with living a balanced life. It is the art of holding on, letting go and knowing when to do which of the two. I think we women can do it all, just not all at the same time ( #seasons ). What do you think?

Balance is a funny thing. I am not the best at balancing and I have to work 10x harder to keep still than to do dynamic flows. I have always prided myself in my strength but bloody hell is standing on one leg hard!
This full moon energy brought all kinds of unexpected breakthroughs. I'm attempting to enjoy the struggle of finding balance between old and new.
