I could have blown off today's yoga, but I kicked my own self in the rear and got it done. Wise choice on my part.
IHO Evinrude of Disney's The Rescuers, I give you the dragonfly today. Have a ton of work to do tonight but I'm relaxing with some green tea and some popcorn.
Days 3, 4 and 5 of the #14daysofyogachallenge with @amethystmoonyoga and @xoquinntographer...my play opened on Friday and I have been EXTRA busy. Managed to do some morning yoga on Friday and Sunday and snuck in a few Sun Salutations before showtime on Saturday. Squeezed out these pics before today's matinee: downward dog, monkey or halfway lift, and eagle poses. As tired as I am and as intense as running the performances was, I'm glad I at least made a little time for yoga this weekend.

Warrior III throwback on this feel good Friday. You can come into this pose several ways. I like to enter from tree. Place you weight on one leg as you inhale the soul of your other foot and place it at your ankles, side of your shin or inner thigh (depending on level of comfort). Point the elevated knee toward the front of your mat and begin to extend the toes behind you. Draw the chest parallel to the mat - bending the standing knee if necessary. Extending arms behind you with palms faced up at the side body, or at heart center, or in front of you with palms faced down. Hips and shoulders are squared. Breathe.

#ShantiVirabhadrasana . #PeacefulWarrior . To achieve, start in warrior II, as depicted yesterday. Flip your palms up toward the ceiling. Tip back, side bending in your left waist. Allow the back of your left hand to relax on your left leg, and reach your right arm toward the ceiling. Your gaze should be toward the ceiling. Breathe.
Do no harm, but take no sh*t. Be the warrior.
Warrior two is achieved by bringing the legs about three feet apart. One foot with the knee bent and toes pointed towards the front of the mat. The other leg straight back behind you with the foot parallel to the back of the mat. The hips are open, shoulders and hips are squared. Arms are lifted to shoulder length and parallel to the mast with palms facing down. Gaze is over the front fingers. Breathe.

Had a wonderful experience yesterday during @ladydork's #DorkTour ! It's always an amazing experience to be around other people who look like me and share a similar love for yoga🧘🏾♀️. People like Sanaa, and everyone in this picture, are slowly changing the fave of yoga. When yoga instructors, yoga brands and yoga media outlets scream inclusion, it should also include rooms that look like this. #YogaGear (down to the mat): @lululemon
A little sequence to encourage opening in the hip flexors, a little wake up call for your glutes topped off with a twist for the spine and IT band (illiotibial band). Again you can grab a yoga strap, socks, a tennis ball or whatever you have that’s available to you!

Today is just a day to me, it’s been pretty triggering in all honesty. Sometimes there’s no one to call on and you only remember that when you’re feeling lost or when things aren’t going as planned. I am grateful for the loving and supportive father I have - he’s my best friend. I also have so many strong womxn in my life that have helped shaped me through the years. But most of all, I am thankful for everything I’ve learned having had to be my own mother for so long. It’s hard to let go of abandonment and the need to fill a void. But the hole gets smaller everyday as I continually grow through the trauma. Today is hard, but it’s just a day.
I went outside to meditate today, but I didn't capture that on film. I captured this instead. The same pose, different day. When I take this pose (half lord of the fishes), I feel regal. Statuesque. Like I'm giving all of "me" a hug. But when I photograph it, I feel like an Egyptian hieroglyph, flat, carved. Yesterday, this pose saw me sinking into a bed in a guest room. Today, this pose finds me outside solar charging my positive vibes. Next time, I think I'll see if this pose floats.
Here’s a little snippet of something you may see in the future. I am going to start creating online videos so you can enjoy yoga from anywhere. Yoga should be accessible for all people - there will be something for everyone! More details coming soon 🌟
