Exactly twenty five years between pictures but in the same exact spot. 1994 and then this morning 2019. This used to be my old "heavy slag iron" haunt. Free's gym (Bill Kazmier used to lift here along with a bunch of Cali powerlifting legends). This place was Ultra Hardcore, you basically got after it and bled and spit where you wanted. I had some brutal, brutal, (did i say brutal?) HEAVY workouts here. Bodybuilding is such a humbling endeavor, it can absolutely mess up your psyche. I was a robust 137lbs at 6'1" when i started lifting at 20 years old (yea thats not a typo)...I was beyond painfully skinny and I knew i had to do something about it. I devoured every single bit of information I could find and it took me 2.5 years of pounding food and training like a madman but I made it to 189lbs (great....2.5 years to get to everyone elses starting point LOL). I was driven. This was going to take years but I was up for the task. The man at the time who was my same height was Berry Demey. And he weighed 245 to 260 offseason before dieting down for shows. Thats what I needed to do! I put away more food than probably anyone in the history of bodybuilding and I can remember all my sticking points. I got up to 204, then 212, 224, 228, 234, 238 (stuck here at 238-242 for what seemed like an eternity, 256, 265lbs (I MADE IT I DID IT!!!!) There was one huge gigantic problem though! At the very same time I made my goal and want to compete.... 6'1 Gary Strydom and 6'1 Chris Duffy arrive on the scene and both of them are competing at 258 to 262lbs ONSTAGE! What the hell?! Thats my offseason weight! And both of them got up to over 300 in the offseason. I pick myself back up and get back to work....HEAVY SLAG AND SO MUCH FOOD IT WAS ASTOUNDING. I get up to 272, then 283, then 294, then 303lbs (I MADE IT I DID IT!!!!) There was one huge problem though. Its now the late 90's and 6'1" Gunther Schlierkamp shows up onstage for his shows at 297lbs. The guy is onstage again weighing what I did offseason. I gathered myself and was kind of plotting my gameplan and then this happened. CONTINUED BELOW
🤔 DO YOU NEED TO TRAIN ABS ?
Short answer no. You don’t NEED to do anything actually, You can sit at home and make sweet love to a Hermit Crab for all I care. But if you want a developed six pack with deep cuts then put your crustaceous fetish aside and train your abs properly.
👉I always neglected ab training out of laziness. As a result I need to get SUPER lean for my abs to pop (I also store more fat on the midsection). In the last few months I’ve hit them twice per week: around 20 sets per week in total .
🔪 I’ve noticed a change but still need a LOT more work to get the cuts deeper and have them pop more. This might be why I lose ab visibility in the first month of a calorie surplus
So if your goal is to get a strong, detailed mid
Section: train your abs like every other muscle group. However, I’d advise you mix up weighted exercises with body weight exercises and something like a vacuum too.
👉Tag Someone in the comments who needs to train abs (or has a crab fetish). Let them figure out which one you mean 😂
Será que o treino foi intenso?? Isso foi musculação, não aeróbio! Treino com muita intensidade!! E você tá saindo igual chegou na academia? Ou tá saindo destruído, com a camiseta encharcada e esgotado? Pra cima!! Domingão no foco Tmj 💪🏼👊🏼🙏🏼
